Description mohican 2024-07-30 14:27:30 UTC
Description:
By default (on LibreOffice 24.2 shipped with Linux Mint 22) the set of icons for the toolbars is Colibre. It has a dark version. But none of them is suitable when changing automatically from light mode to dark mode and back.

It is convenient to switch automatically from light to dark in the evening and from dark to light in the morning.
Libreoffice support dark theme BUT the default icon theme does not follow

Steps to Reproduce:
1.switch the system to dark mode

Actual Results:
several Colibre icons on the tool bars are not visible

Expected Results:
either switch automaticcaly the icon theme to Calibre Dark or are an icon theme that can be visible in both light and dark modes.

The user cannot be expected to switch the icon theme twice a day !

Reproducible: Always

Found a solution : install the Yaru icon theme. They are visible in both modes.

Reading the last comments in bug 127138, version 24.8 might behave better for you. Not sure, if Linux Mint 22 is lacking some of the required updates regarding GNOME technology, but please try 24.8. An appimage is one way: https://www.libreoffice.org/download/appimage/

Hello,

i can confirm this issue with LibreOffice 24.8.5.2 and Linux Mint 22.1
I use the official PPA ("still") to get the updates.

please see my attachment above my comment

Per bug 127138 comment 29, this should work when the icon theme is set to *Automatic*. For a smarter way there is the request that is bug 148764. Let's duplicate to it.
