Description wawa 2024-09-03 13:42:21 UTC
Description:
If I want to use the LET-Function in Libreoffice Calc in 24.8 I have to use and remember the german function name "BEHALTEN". Behalten means more like "KEEP". I therefore suggest to stay with "LET" in the german translation or maybe "SEI".

Steps to Reproduce:
none

Actual Results:
none

Expected Results:
have a meaningful function name like "SEI", "LET"

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
no other information. That's it.
Comment 1 Eike Rathke 2024-09-03 14:53:00 UTC
Apparently Excel went with the untranslated LET() in German localization, see https://support.microsoft.com/de-de/office/let-funktion-34842dd8-b92b-4d3f-b325-b8b8f9908999
I suggest to go with the same.

First, could it generate some backward compatibility pb?
if no:
Ok to change all the quoted ones?

(I can do it on Weblate if it's ok for you)

+1

Just thought that if Eike indicated it was ok, no need to ask about backward compatibility, since he's the Calc expert :-)

Comment 5 Julien Nabet 2024-09-04 11:37:30 UTC
Of course, now it's changed in Weblate, you must wait for synchronization with translate repo, then wait for another LO release.
Comment 6 Eike Rathke 2024-09-04 13:59:54 UTC
All msgstr values coming from Weblate are ok to change, there's no compatibility problem, stored in document files are immutable name values.
