Starting from last update, when typing a paragraph aligned to "justified" and reaching approximately the last third of the line, the line starts to stretch while typing text and un-stretch back when typing a space. This makes it very uncomfortable to work. To reproduce: 1. Open a new writer document. 2. Set the paragraph alignment to "justified". 3. Start typing. Expected results: - The typed words should remain where they are, and become justified only wen you reach the next line. Actual results: - After you type approximately two thirds of the line, the line starts to jump around while typing, stretching with the beginning of every word and un-stretching back at its ending. System info: Version: 24.8.1.2 (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community Build ID: 480(Build:2) CPU threads: 16; OS: Linux 6.8; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3 Locale: en-US (C); UI: en-US Ubuntu package version: 4:24.8.1-0ubuntu1 Calc: threaded I use ubuntu 24.10 with nvidia 555 drivers.
Please attach a sample file, reduce the size as much as possible without private information.
Created attachment 196463 [details] Test file Add words to see the line strech and un-stretch
This happens to me even with a new file. I attach such a file, with a justified line filled up to two thirds. Just add words to see the bug. PS I had it backwards at the description - the line looks normal while typing a word, but stretches whenever I type a space at the end of that word, and un-stretches when I start a new word.
The bug exists in safe mode as well.
You have enabled 'Snap to text grid (If active)', disable it and Writer works as you expect.

(In reply to m_a_riosv from comment #5) > You have enabled 'Snap to text grid (If active)', disable it and Writer > works as you expect. Disabling 'Snap to text grid (If active)' in the pargraph style has no effect.
Thanks for reporting this issue. It looks like a duplicate of bug 162934 *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 162934 ***
Imo wrong dupe, as fix is in https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=162220 and 162934 was set to dupe of 162220. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 162220 ***
