Description p.wibberley 2024-10-16 10:09:09 UTC
Description:
For example, if I load a CSV file, "test.csv", and then select 'File'.'Save As' and select 'Excel 2007-365(.xlsx)' format, the dialog box does not change "text.csv" to "text.xlsx".

Previous versions of Calc did do this, and it was an excellent feature. It would be much appreciated if this could be incorporated into the current Fresh version (or later).

Thanks and regards

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open CSV file, e.g. test.csv
2. Select File.Save As, and then select "Excel 2007-365 (.xlsx)" format

Actual Results:
Dialog asks whether I want to replace test.csv

Expected Results:
File should be saved as text.xlsx

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
As with previous versions, it would be helpful if the dialog would automatically change the filename extension, so that the document is saved with a filename extension corresponding with the selected format.

Can not reproduce. The Save-as opens os/DE file manager and selection of the LO provided export filter/file extension does change the file name/file type extension.

Please provide the os/DE details. Found on the main menu's Help -> About LibreOffice. Copy and paste.

Apologies, I forgot to mention OS details.

Version: 24.8.2.1 (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: 480(Build:1)
CPU threads: 8; OS: Linux 6.8; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3
Locale: en-GB (en_GB.UTF-8); UI: en-GB
Ubuntu package version: 4:24.8.2-0ubuntu0.24.04.1~lo1

I don't see it mentioned above, but I'm using KDE Neon 6.2, with Plasma 6.2.0, KDE Frameworks 6.6.0 and Qt 6.7.2.

Thanks and regards

I notice that this is somehow dependent on options. With 24.8, if I launch in Safe Mode, the gtk3 file dialog does not show the file extension and the file format changes OK. If I launch normally, the file extension is shown, but does not change with the file format.

I won't change the status yet as we don't know what the relevant option is.
