In a master slide, there's typically a text box for the content part of the slide. In actual slides, sometimes one exceeds its dimensions - especially towards the bottom, left and right. I often wonder how can I have the app tell me that my slide is thus in excess of the originally-intended content area; I wish there was some mechanism for that, other than creating a new slide, copying the content box and pasting it onto the existing slide.
I don't believe LibreOffice offers a built-in feature to automatically notify when content exceeds the dimensions of the original content area defined by the master slide. Try using Guides and Grid Lines to visually align and ensure content stays within the intended area. Do this, View > Guides or View > Grid and Snap Lines.

Aryeh, this is the second bug in which you're giving suggestions regarding what the use instead. But - we're not on a tech support platform, this is a bug tracker. It does not matter how I manage, the question is what LO offers.
Sounds like AI to me, a lot of effort for no good benefit. (I appreciate Aryeh's and others comments.)

With the default settings that should not be possible, because wrap is enabled as default and 'Shrink text on overflow' is enabled too. Could you please attach a document that has such 'exceeds its dimensions'? > I often wonder how can I have the app > tell me that my slide is thus in excess of the originally-intended content > area; I wish there was some mechanism for that, other than creating a new > slide, copying the content box and pasting it onto the existing slide. It is not clear what do you want the achieve with such copying. If you have manually changed size or position of the content box, you can reset it to the master if you reapply the layout. Your problem is not clear to me.
(In reply to Regina Henschel from comment #4) > (In reply to Eyal Rozenberg from comment #0) > Do you mean, that your text content is larger than the box? No, I mean objects, e.g. boxes, whose bounding rectangle exceeds the rectangle of the content box of the master slide. Will attach an example.
Created attachment 197570 [details] Example with content boxes exceeds dimensions of master slide content box
Assign the slide layout again to reset it to master or use the item 'Reset slide layout'. And if you then think that you want to keep its previously, manually created state, click on 'undo'. I think we need no special indicator of the master position and size on the actual slide. Such additional lines would be confusing. But same as with styles, it might be useful to have a way to see, whether a value is inherited from somewhere or is set manually. That would not be on the slide, but in the position and size dialog and sidebar.
We discussed the topic in the design meeting. Some people believe that re-layouting the slide should also affect other objects such as shapes. If implemented this should be optional, perhaps depending on a modifier key such as shift being pressed.
