Created attachment 197259 [details] show track changes does not show current formatting of the text Description: Show track changes does not show the current format of the text and messes up italics. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open attachment. 2. Edit -> track changes -> Show (if already not enabled) 3. Embolden any text on line 1 and then UNDO it or press bold again (to remove the bold format). 4. Choose another text on line 1 and italicize it or underline it. Actual Results: (for 3) After UNDO the text is still shown in bold. (for 4) the text is shown in bold italics or bold underline though its true formatting is just italics or underline. Expected Results: (for 3) After UNDO the word should be back in regular formatting. (for 4) After italics or underline, the text should just become italicized and underlined without bold Reproducible: Always
The bug exists and it doesn't. In fact the formatting can be changed and reversed (you can confirm if you accept the changes). Particularly for bold format, though, the track change does not modify the thickness of the line, although the actual format has changed (see Format>Text>Bold). If you write a new word, put it in bold and then remove the bold you can see the change nevertheless. I think the only problem is to make in active track change that words can be seen as in bold or not visually. == testing == Version: 25.2.0.0.alpha0+ (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community Build ID: 3287deb82ef0ee2048f733ae981961f527888727 CPU threads: 8; OS: macOS 13.7; UI render: Skia/Metal; VCL: osx Locale: pt-BR (pt_BR.UTF-8); UI: en-US Calc: threaded Version: 24.8.2.1 (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community Build ID: 0f794b6e29741098670a3b95d60478a65d05ef13 CPU threads: 8; OS: macOS 13.7; UI render: Skia/Metal; VCL: osx Locale: pt-BR (pt_BR.UTF-8); UI: en-US Calc: threaded
But is it not a bug that when the user has undone the formatting, the text visually appears to have thick lines? after pressing UNDO, what change remains which necessitates acceptance? It should look just like the original right? At least that is how MS Office works.
Let's ask László what he thinks.
