Description Branimir Amidzic 2024-11-04 20:50:48 UTC
Description:
Since recently I'm experiencing *really* annoying issue with LibreOffice on my laptop.
If I have two documents open (tested with Calc and Writer) and if I use Alt+TAB to switch between documents/windows, the window focus is not consistent with the selected window.
For example, if I work in document 1 and use Alt+TAB to switch to document 2, the relevant window is put to front, but the focus remains on document 1. Any typing on the keyboard happens to background document 1.
please see this video (https://nextcloud.ambraspace.com/index.php/s/LxWXasrCxMoay84).
I opened two Calc documents. Typed "1" and ENTER in "Untitled 2". Then, I switched to "Untitled 1" and typed "2" and ENTER. The number 2 appeared in document "Untitled 2" which was in the background.
This really annoys. Can anyone reproduce this on another platform?

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Open two Calc documents.
2.Type "1" in the first document.
3.Switch to the second document with Alt+TAB
4 Type "2" in the second document.

Actual Results:
The first document contains "1" and "2" in first two rows of column 1.
The second document contains nothing.

Expected Results:
The first document should contain "1", and the second document should contain "2".

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
After pressing Alt+TAB, the front window gains focus after pressing ESC.

Thank you for reporting this bug. I was unable to reproduce this issue on the stated release of Calc or Writer. Are you able to test this on another system to verify it's not related to user profile issues or other software?

Hi, Bryan!

Since you haven't confirmed the issue, I tried the following:
1) deleted ~/.config/libreoffice folder - didn't fix the issue
2) started with XDG_SESSION_TYPE=x11 environment variable (it helped with some other apps on Wayland) - didn't fix the issue.
3) turned off Settings -> Window Management -> Task Switcher -> the second check box (right below "Show selected window") - this FIXED the issue.

I'm not sure what's the culprit, but I have this issue only LibreOffice. I tried other native KDE/Plasma apps and they are fine...

Regards!

I tried other visual effects for task switcher. It happens only with "Thumbnail Grid". Other visual effects don't impose this issue.

Since this is probably unrelated to LibreOffice, you may close this report...

I see you reported it to KDE, thanks: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=495844

I have also noticed this, so I will comment there.
