Description:
Here it has been described (in German) by somebody else too: https://www.libreoffice-forum.de/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=40174

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Go to "insert"
2. → "table of contents and index"
3. and if you choose "Table of contents, index or bibliography"

Actual Results:
The window to create the table of contents opens, but parallel LibreOffice Writer crashes.

Expected Results:
LibreOffice shouldn't crash and create the table of contents.

On pc Debian x86-64 with master sources updated today or with LO Debian package 24.8.2, I don't reproduce this.

Do you reproduce this with a brand new file or only with a specific file?

Could you try https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/FirstSteps#Corrupted_user_profile ?

Pretty confident this is bug 163325.
Can you confirm that it is indeed linked to the dialog's Preview being turned on?
Do you get a crash report?
