Description Lyn 2024-11-21 08:23:24 UTC
Description:
Calc is not retaining formats randomly. For example, I fix a whole column to centre what I type (it could be any format) and when I create a new entry it shifts to the left or right. This is totally random. I can type in several descending entries and it will format correctly but after I have closed it and want to add a new entry at some other time the format may or may not have changed. This problem also applies to the type of entry. For example I have a column formatted for currency and it randomly changes to default format. So far it seems to be after closing Calc and re-opening it later.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Explained above
2.
3.

Actual Results:
Explained above

Expected Results:
Explained above

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
Retained existing settings. I have not reset my userprofile but as you have a link below on how to do it I will do so. My version of the program may also be outdated so I will remedy that.

Hi Lyn,

Maybe you could provide more information (also already directly at the bug name next time :-)). Does it only occur when you close libreoffice? Did you also test in safe mode?

I could not reproduce this issue in my system (MacOS)

Hi Samuel.

Sorry, I'm new to forums and don't find them too intuitive but I try.

I'm on a Windows 11 PC which is up-to-date as is Libreoffice as of today. As it is a random problem, it's tricky to monitor all the time. The problem may not occur for a few Calc openings, usefully not more than 6-7. I haven't tried it in Safe mode again because I would have to open and close it several times for it to occur. I will give it a shot though. When I'm using Calc, and correct the format, it will stay like that. I've not had it occurring while using it but that's not to say several cells further down it might happen. At the moment it only seems to happen after a restart.

I've just opened Calc following the update and tried a few entries in a column that should format to currency and had no problem so far. I should point out I have, a while back, completely uninstalled and reinstalled Libreoffice from scratch and just updated thereafter. I can't say how long I have been experiencing this other than quite some time. I'm now waiting to see if the update has had any impact.

Regards

Lyn

Just updating that although it work normally following the recent update, it showed signs once again of not retaining formats. Once I go into the cell format settings and correct it, it stays good for a short while and then reverts to incorrect format.

I'm not sure where I am with this at the moment. I find it hard to follow what is going on.
