What exactly is the vertical line? Do you suggest a splitter to resize the dialog?

Just look at the mockup in bug 120658 and compare it with current dialog implementation

The mockup has a black line drawn in the middle of the picture. What is it?

It's the line I want to see in the dialog for logical splitting left side with its buttons from right side with its buttons

The splitter is used to expand/shrink parts of a dialog. I see no need in this case. If you talk about a visual separation of left content from right, this black ruler without any function is not the right way. It breaks the OS/DE design and has no meaning. White-space should be sufficient.

comparison of current space to some extra space

Perhaps a bit more white-space between would be ok?

Jim, thanks, I'm not sure it can help.
And anyway let's decide something in bug 164142 first =(
