In Writer, if Heading 1, etc. styles are inserted into the document *after* the menu:/Tools/Chapter / Heading Numbering… is setup, then everything works fine. If done in the reverse order, Chapter numbers will never work with either Fields nor Heading styles. The above info does NOT exist anywhere within the docs supplied with Libreoffice, and the experts at AskLibreoffice.org are also unaware of it. If the above is considered to be a "feature" rather thwn a bug", then a warning alert needs to be in operation so that if someone attempts to setup Heading Numbering whilst already having a Heading style in place in the document, then an alert needs to be triggered to supply a warning to the user.
Alex, thank you for reporting the bug. It seems, you're using an old version of LO. Could you please retest with actual version 24.8? Please provide information from Help -> About LibreOffice => NEEDINFO
Hi Dieter https://gerrit.libreoffice.org/gitweb?p=core.git;a=log;h=48a6bac9e7e268aeb4c3483fcf825c94556d9f92 Each attachment that I have loaded states a variant on the following: <quote> (a) This document was written under LO 24.8.3.2. </quote> In response, across 149 seconds you copy/pasted four identical, blindly ignorant, error-filled comments:- • (9 0f 9) 2024-12-27 05:30:40 UTC :: id=164307&list_id=1826492 • (8 0f 9) 2024-12-27 05:31:50 UTC :: id=164306&list_id=1826492 • (7 0f 9) 2024-12-27 05:32:40 UTC :: id=164304&list_id=1826492 • (6 0f 9) 2024-12-27 05:33:09 UTC :: id=164303&list_id=1826492 You may think this is a valuable use of your time, but it is a criminal waste of mine. Kindly desist.
