There might be multiple gstreamer plugin packages. Do you have all of them installed? Which Linux distribution?
Comment 2 Buovjaga 2024-12-18 06:15:46 UTC
The reporter sent me a direct email (please don't do that):
"Installed all gstreamer packages. Operating system is MX23.What streamer packages are needed and what can be removed, please?"

I suppose these are needed:

gstreamer1.0-libav
gstreamer1.0-plugins-bad
gstreamer1.0-plugins-good
gstreamer1.0-plugins-ugly
libgstreamer-plugins-base1.0-0
libgstreamer1.0-0

As 7.4 is a bit old, you could try a newer version. An easy way is to use an appimage. Does the problem persist in version 24.8? https://www.libreoffice.org/download/appimage/

No idea, but did you try an appimage? Should be most simple.

Video showing impresas will not run videos

Sorry for contacting you direct. At the time I did not know the process.
Also sorry for downloading the wrong file.
I have checked gstreamer packages I have and all those you suggested are installed, along with many other gstreamer packages. Should I uninstall these others?
I have now downloaded the appimage file and attach an mp4 video showing the steps I went through to show it will not run.
Two things to note: 1 on earlier versions it showed the first frame of the video, the appimage just shows an icon and 2 Earlier versions showed a black screen when run and still the first frame when I left the run. The appimage shows a white screen.
I hope this helps. I will almost certainly be unable to respond to your suggestions now, due to Christmas commitments. Hope you have a happy Christmas.

I'm kind of out of ideas. Maybe fellow MX Linux users could help: https://forum.mxlinux.org/viewforum.php?f=104
