Description: The menu bar under the title bar, with 'File - Edit - View' etc., turned up missing after a full upgrade to Ubuntu 24.04 which installs LO as the default. Installed and configured Mate & Cinnamon desktops. Had no reason to configure LO and just used it in the default install mode. Did not noticed until recently that the menu bar was missing. LO did not crash. Works normally. BUT...without that top menu bar. My work is hampered without that bar of drop down actions. Registered a question on AskLibreOffice and received no help that restored the menu bar. Spent several hours trying to find some why to use the available Icon menus to restore LO to normal setup. Nothing is available that I could find that would return LO to 'Default'. Using the Customize feature didn't help. Without that menu bar, there are no clickable 'Options' or anything like 'Preferences' or 'Settings' available. I have NOT installed any extensions to LO. What I eventually found, was that rebooting to Ubuntu Gnome or Cinnamon desktops restored that menu bar in LO. That pointed to the Mate desktop software as being the problem. As a last test before removing LO, I rebooted into Ubuntu Gnome desktop and the menu bar is back. Then rebooted into Cinnamon desktop and again, the menu bar is there. SO…this tells me it’s specific to Mate desktop and obviously some configuration setting I set without knowing it would affect LO. I’ve checked several of my known settings (it has been a couple weeks since install of 24.04 so I can’t recall them all) and tried changing them to no avail. MATE TWEAK turned out to be the culprit. I was using a custom Panel layout. Changing to Cupertino restored the missing menu bar in LO. NO OTHER PROGRAM had a missing top menu bar. Just LO. I feel this is a bug in LO and not Mate because it only affects LO, no other piece of software on my computer was affected like LO. There should be a block by LO to prevent outside desktop software from resetting the Default GUI. Steps to Reproduce: 1.Set Mate Tweak for a Panel other than Familiar, like Contemporary. 2.Open LO 3.Note that the top menu bar under the SS name bar is missing. Actual Results: Changing the panel to Contemporary (and some other choices) caused the top Menu bar in LO to disappear. Expected Results: The top Menu bar disappeared. Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: No Additional Info: VER: 24.2.7.2 (X86_64)/LibreOffice Community (This above info in 'About LO' can not be C&P from the about page forcing a typed in response. Is it supposed to be that way when you ask for a copy of it here?) HELP cannot be accessed with this problem as there is no HELP clickable on the 2 other icon menu bars. Which means UserProfile cannot be reset when the top menu bar is missing. I accidentally discovered it was a problem in Mate Tweak when selecting certain panels but I believe that LO should block that sort of GUI change like all my other software on the computer does.
