This is a bug which I submitted a few years ago and marked as Worsforme because I did not have the same configuration any more. In these days I was working on a computer having the same Word version with which the bug had occurred and the bug is still there.
I cannot confirm the described behavior. The clipboard content is inserted as text, when I use CTRL+V. Tested with Version: 25.8.0.0.alpha0+ (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community Build ID: f4a3ffe1110aa38a3836533e6c51b910c68c2336 CPU threads: 32; OS: Windows 11 X86_64 (build 26100); UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: win Locale: de-DE (de_DE); UI: en-US Calc: threaded Is the Word document locally on your PC? Do you use a locally installed Word? Or do you use an online access or cloud storage? How do you paste the clipboard content? The icon "Paste" has a drop-down list where you can chose how the clipboard content is inserted. Please try these options. Which options are listed there? The problem might be Mac specific.
Hi Regina, thank you for testing on your end. Replying to your questions: The file is local (saved on desktop). The word version is a local one too, but the contract is 365. I copied with Cmd A and Cmd C I pasted with the options first: Text only, rtf, html. With these three the text gets pasted With Cmd V however I get an image. The problem might be linked to 365 version of Word for Mac. Attached the two documents used (docx from which the text was pasted and odt results: three texts and an image). I hope this helps.

(In reply to Daniele from comment #3) > The problem might be linked to 365 version of Word for Mac. Indeed, testers should keep in mind that Word for Mac is a completely different program from the Windows Word.
Confirming with Version: 25.8.4.2 (AARCH64) Build ID: 290daaa01b999472f0c7a3890eb6a550fd74c6df CPU threads: 8; OS: macOS 26.2; UI render: Skia/Metal; VCL: osx Locale: fr-FR (fr_FR.UTF-8); UI: fr-FR Calc: threaded 1) Opened DOCX file in Word for Mac Version 16.104 (25121423) 2) Cmd-A, Cmd-C to select all of the text and copy it to buffer. 3) Switch to LibreOffice, with a blank Writer document. 4) Cmd-V to paste into the Writer document leads to an image of the selected text being inserted.
FWIW, the pasting (Cmd-V) works correctly in Apache OpenOffice.org AOO4116m3(Build:9816) - Rev. 277251aa7e but I see the following xml comment added to the Writer document: <!--[if gte mso 9]><xml> <o:OfficeDocumentSettings> <o:AllowPNG/> </o:OfficeDocumentSettings> </xml><![endif]--> I'm going to guess that the reported versions (and later) of LO where it doesn't work don't know what to do with this XML and as a result, treat the pasted object as an image.
For comparison, the selected text also pastes correctly into a blank macOS Pages document - version 14.4 (7043.0.93).
