Automatic selection upon focus was added in 9b0e098a785165cd9ec28c60505b60e62c3e59dc.

It stopped working in 7.0 with 8950cb8ae6a1621729ec43a6dd1c29cf04260797

As far as I can tell the general convention on most toolkits/platforms is that:

Clicking to set pointer focus results in caret placement, not select all.
While otherwise gaining keyboard focus does result in select all.

so I don't like special casing some comboboxes to do something different than all the others on click.

ctrl+a to select all, and double/triple click are available to select word/all
