Description: The link document-to-template doesn't work if template properties settings have "Apply user data" disabled. The link-not-functional is perceived by the lack of prompt on document reload. This way user has no chance to confirm the take-over of modifications made in template. In result modifications made in template do not have no chance to propagate to document derived from template. Steps to Reproduce: *Create a template *Template major purpose is to carry styles, one blank paragraph on one single page in template should suffice *Derive a document (or a number of) from template *Add content to document (can be a series of this step) *Do in document Save (button Save on toolbar, toolbar layout Writer default) *At arbitrary point of time - do it not before deriving document from template (I didn't test the opposite case) - disable "Apply user data" in template properties *Modify paragraph style Heading 1 (Heading 1 is used in document, modification of one single attribute of style should suffice) *Have one more cycle of style modification in template followed by syncing document to template *The point in sequence got achieved where document reload/reopening is not accompanied by the prompt “linked template has been modified, do you like to take over made modifications?” - this is my own paraphrasing of prompt message *Enable “Apply user data” *Have one more cycle of style modification and document sync-up *This time the prompt should again be popping up Actual Results: The link document-to-template doesn't work if template properties settings have "Apply user data" disabled. Expected Results: Correlation described never to be observed. Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: No Additional Info: Version: 24.2.7.2 (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community Build ID: 420(Build:2) CPU threads: 2; OS: Linux 6.6; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3 Locale: de-DE (en_US.utf8); UI: en-US 24.2.7-2 Calc: threaded https://ask.libreoffice.org/t/save-as-of-a-template-damaged-document-linking/117128/19?u=eighty2 User profile reset not conducted as it is unclear for me what are the overall reset costs in nature, which artifacts get lost, which need a creation from scratch, which ones are not possible to recreate, what these cost mean for my current writing in its current phase.
Repro already in oldest of linux-43all Simpler steps: 1. Save a blank Writer document as a template 2. Create a new document from the template, add text and set paragraph style to Heading 1. Save and close document. 3. Edit the template, File - Properties: deactivate Apply user data and change the font colour of Heading 1 paragraph style. Save template. 4. Open the document derived from the template. It does not ask to update styles. 5. Edit template again, activate Apply user data and save. Try step 4 again and see it ask to update.
