Description Greg 2025-01-30 17:20:36 UTC
Description:
Having taken a look at #164155, I decided to create my own minimal template that isn't as visually horrible as the stock Impress templates. (sorry, but they are)

I opened a random template (Beehive) and pressed 'Save As' then selected 'template' as the save type (.otp)

I tried to edit the format of each row in the hierarchical list on page 1 of the text entry for the first (title) page but this didn't work at all. I tried direct edit, using the font properties, with a view to setting the outline styles, using each modified row as an example (didn't work: no changes were applied to the selected text) and I also tried modifying the outline style in the hierarchical style properties list but once again the modifications weren't applied to the style and therefore not available to apply to each row of the hierarchical list in the template)

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Open a template
2.Save as a new template
3.Edit the font properties of text in the hierarchical (nested) list OR
4.Edit the font properties of the outline style for each list indentation level

Actual Results:
Direct changes to the font properties (font, size, etc) are applied to neither the text in the list instance, nor the style for that list instance

Expected Results:
Same behaviour as when editing text or style in the main deck editing view (rather than here in the template editing view)

Reproducible: Always

I have no problems to change font related properties in an Impress template file. Perhaps you do something wrong? Please discuss the problem on Ask (e.g. https://ask.libreoffice.org/c/english/5)

Here some hints:
A presentation contains "presentation objects". That are the fields for title, subtitle, date/time, footer, page number, outline. The properties of these fields are not set in the group "Drawing Styles" but in the group "Presentation Styles" in the sidebar. A "row in the hierarchical list" is called "Outline 1", "Outline 2"..., depending on the list level.

If you are working on a slide, changing a property of these fields in the sidebar changes the property in the master slide that is currently associated with this slide. It has the same effect as if you would change the property in this master slide itself.

If you will use direct formatting for these fields on a slide, that will overwrite the settings from the master slide. You will need to remove the direct formatting to make the settings from the master slide active. To remove direct position or size changes, you have to reassign the layout.

All other objects on a master slide are always styled in "Master Slide" view.

I do NOT reproduce with Version: 24.2.7.2 (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: ee3885777aa7032db5a9b65deec9457448a91162
CPU threads: 8; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 19045; UI render: Skia/Vulkan; VCL: win
Locale: fr-FR (fr_FR); UI: fr-FR
Calc: CL threaded

Detailed steps:
1. Create a new presentation from a template (Beehive for instance)
2. Save it as a template: mytemplate.otp
3. Slide 1, select title frame and apply direct formatting such as Bold
Title is bold
4. In style list, select Title style > Edit style, and change font to Liberation Serif. OK
Font is modified

Please give a more detailed procedure to reproduce your bug.

I set status to NEED INFO. Set it back to UNCONFIRMED when there is a new procedure.
