Description: Write some text in Writer. Export to PDF with embed ODF option. Digitally sign document in Adobe Acrobat. Open in LibreOffice. Because ODF is embed, I expect document is opened in Writer (like unsigned PDF), but instead it is opened in Draw and I can't force it to open "embed ODF" PDF file in Writer. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open new LibreOffice Writer document. 2. Type some text in it. 3. File | Export As | Export as PDF. 4. "PDF Options" dialog opens. In default "General" tab check "Hybrid PDF (embed ODF file)" and click on "Export" button. 5. "Export" dialog opens. In "File name" field type in mypdf.pdf and click on Save button. 6. File | Close and close down Writer document without saving. 7. File | Open and Open dialog opens. 8. Select mypdf.pdf and click Open button. Because PDF file has embed ODF file, this file is opened in LibreOffice Writer and I can normaly edit it. 9. File | Close and don't save the document. 10. Open Adobe Acrobat (free tool) and digitally sign the document. 10 a) In Adobe Acrobat, hamburger menu from top-left and Open. 10 b) Select mypdf.pdf. 10 c) From "All Tools" sidebar select "Use a certificate". 10 d) Digitally sign. 10 e) Select an area where signiture image should appear. 10 f) Select certificate and Continue button and Sign button. 10 g) Save As dialog appears and save signed pdf file with the same name mypdf.pdf (override the original pdf file). 11. Now I would like to edit the document. Back to LibreOffice Writer and File | Open and in "Open" dialog select myfile.pdf and Open button. Actual Results: What happens is LibreOffice Draw is opened and the banner says document is signed. This is fine, but I want to edit the document, and I can't find the way to open it with LibreOffice Writer again to edit the embed document. Expected Results: Document is opened in Writer, just like non-signed "embed ODF" PDF file. Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: No Additional Info: Version: 25.2.1.2 (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community Build ID: d3abf4aee5fd705e4a92bba33a32f40bc4e56f49 CPU threads: 12; OS: Windows 11 X86_64 (10.0 build 26100); UI render: Skia/Vulkan; VCL: win Locale: sl-SI (en_SI); UI: en-US Calc: CL threaded
Please test with a nightly development build of master against 25.8, that has PDF 2.0 support. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 158537 ***
I have downloaded latest LibreOffice development and exported document in "Hybrid PDF" and "PDF 2.0". Then signed it with Adobe Acrobat and when I reopen PDF file the same issue: PDF is opened in LibreOffice Draw and I see no option to actually open embed PDF LibreOffice Writer document in LibreOffice Writer program (as I can if PDF is not signed). =============== Version: 25.8.0.0.alpha0+ (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community Build ID: 19ac1ce1531e4ff6977cca1321c73494c0ffaef1 CPU threads: 2; OS: Windows 11 X86_64 (build 26100); UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: win Locale: en-US (en_SI); UI: en-US Calc: threaded
I have also tested scenario bug 158537 that this current bug report was marked as duplicate bug, but to my humble opinion this is not the same issue, different dialogs appear and different behaviour. I changed "duplicate" status back to "unconfirmed". What both bugs have in common is using "Hybrid PDF" as an option at export PDF.
Yeh this seems to be a problem with v2 PDFs, they are known broken at the moment (I've fixed non-hybrid, but not hybrid yet). However, you said you signed it with Acrobat - could you provide a test document that you did that to please? Just something trivially simple - something I could use in a test (and which you'd be happy for us to include in the test suite)
