Description documentfoundation.bzgvo 2025-03-17 20:25:10 UTC
Description:
LibreOffice Impress full screen slideshow doesn't display in Wayland on Zoom. It works on X11 but not Wayland.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Open Impress presentation
2.Click start slideshow from first slide
3.Share screen on Zoom and choose Impress

Actual Results:
All the attendees only see Impress in editing mode and not full screen mode. This works in X11 display server but not Wayland display server.

Expected Results:
Participants in the Zoom meeting or webinar should see the slideshow in full screen mode.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
Ubuntu 24.04 Gnome.

I reported this to Zoom as well.

PLease, in order to narrow the issue, can you confirm if you have the same Wayland issue with another full screen application in a zoom session, under same computer and session setup? Thanks
Comment 3 Olivier Hallot 2025-03-24 14:41:24 UTC
As a workaround, you may prefer to choose full screen sharing under Zoom, instead of choosing the Impress window.

It seems to be working now with a recent Zoom update but now Zoom records the Zoom task bar at the top of the screen whereas it didn't used to do this. Zoom tech support is useless for Linux.

I'm just going to stick with X11 since there aren't any issues.

Yeah, let's close.

Up to date instructions are found in https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Zoom_Meetings#Wayland

To share your screen on Wayland, install the required packages for WebRTC screen sharing, edit ~/.config/zoomus.conf and make sure the value enableWaylandShare is set to true, if not, then restart zoom.

There are reports that even with all the dependencies in place Zoom will still not use pipewire for screen capture. In this situation manually configuring Zoom to use Pipewire has been reported to work. This can be done as follows:

1. Start the desktop client and go to Settings->Share Screen
2. Click Advanced
3. Change the Screen capture mode to Pipewire (as opposed to Automatic)
