Description Alain Delanneau 2025-04-03 09:25:38 UTC
Description:
I often open with calc temporary files received from internet sites. These files are used only once and are immediately deleted, but they remain in the "last used documents" list, then limiting the number of permanent files that can be retrieved with this list and making it much less useful.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Open a temporary file in calc (could be in any component)
2.Close the calc session
3.Delete the temporary file

Actual Results:
The deleted file name remains in the "Last used documents" list, limiting room for useful documents.

Expected Results:
The deleted file name should be removed from the "Last used documents" list, or there should be a way to remove it.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
It would be nice to have an option allowing to remove from the "Last used documents" list the files that do not exist anymore, either as an option of the "empty list" action, or as a new action in the menu.
It could also be done automatically, validated by a check mark in the Options menu.
Other ways could be an "Edit open list" function in the menu, or an "Exclude from open list" option in the Options menu, with a list of filters (temporary files often have a common prefix).
Thanks for considering this improvement.

Note that that bug is "fixed" - but not in a way you want. And no, we can't scan if files are there. It's explained there in the discussion, but in short, it would be both incorrect (the files may be unavailable only temporarily, e.g. on a missing removable media), and problematic (e.g., the files could be on a network drive, and accessing a disconnected network could create *minutes* of hung application waiting for the network to reply).

Thanks for your answer.
I understand the points you are reporting. In fact, removing the non existent files was just a "shortcut" to solve my problem, but its not my main concern. What bothers me is the occupation of room in the list by numerous useless temporary files, to the detriment of permanent useful ones, without, I believed, the possiblity of removing them. I know now that the "Start Center" allows to do this, but launching the Start Center from a calc window (or other) is not so simple (at least I did not find how to do it). It should be great to have a "Edit list" action, aside the "Clear list", that would launch the Start Center, e.g. in a pop up window.
Aside of this, the ideal solution for my concern should be a classical name filter in the Options to exclude undesirable files from the list.
