Description enriquermcd 2025-04-07 12:26:42 UTC
Description:
After resetting my settings to the default in LibreOffice Calc, I noticed that the cell borders appear much thicker than before. I'm also unable to change the width or thickness of the borders as shown in the attached video.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Reset settings to default via safe mode menu.

2. Attempt to change the width or thickness of the borders using the border settings menu.

3. Notice that the changes do not apply to the selected cells.

Actual Results:
No changes to border thickness are applied when adjusting the settings.

Expected Results:
Cchanging the border thickness should apply the changes as expected.

Reproducible: Always

Setting border width
Comment 2 Jessica 2025-04-09 07:54:37 UTC
Thank you for reporting the bug. I can not reproduce the bug in

Version: 25.2.2.2 (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: 7370d4be9e3cf6031a51beef54ff3bda878e3fac

I think the presets (Voreinstellung) is none, you have to click the second symbol, then the boarder thickness will be changed.
Comment 3 enriquermcd 2025-04-09 13:20:47 UTC
I changed the settings from preset to the third one (see the uploaded video) and nothing happened. If any, the borders got even thicker...

Moreover, when adding borders to create a small table, the borders don't get thicker, hence not being visible...

Border width change
Comment 5 Mateusz Wlazłowski 2025-04-09 16:57:05 UTC
I can reproduce the same behaviour as you have (Border width change video), although, for me it's not a bug. It is the same behaviour from 7.2.0.1 (the one I have installed).

By default, there are no borders - thus you see these gray delimiters. You can add 0.05, 0.5 and 0.75 pt borders. When you zoom in your spreadsheet, you will see that 0.75 pt borders are thicker than 0.5 pt and those in turn are thicker than 0.05 pt.
Same thing when you zoom in a print preview.

Maybe you have made a custom theme?

I can agree that for low width borders, it is hard to see that there are different width borders, I think we could make an enhancement request instead

I think the problem is that after last update Libreoffice Calc has thick black lines by default, instead of the regular grey/almost transparent ones.

This behavior remains after resetting the profile via safe mode. As you can see in the new video. Weirdly enough, it only seems to happen with the white background not the dark one.

Maybe something to do with the default theming/dark mode?

Safe mode borders
Comment 8 Mateusz Wlazłowski 2025-04-10 16:03:39 UTC
For me the default color is gray. Can you change the color of the default borders while in light mode in Tools->Options->Libreoffice->Appearance->Customizations->Table boundaries and set the color to automatic?
Comment 9 enriquermcd 2025-04-14 13:10:02 UTC
Yes, now I see the regular lines as they used to be before!

Somehow the default changed for me after updating on Arch Linux. Is this possibly still a bug?
Comment 10 Mateusz Wlazłowski 2025-04-16 18:39:06 UTC
Are you able to provide the steps for us to reproduce?

I identified a bug related to changing theme colors in libreoffice linux - when going from light to dark, some colors are not set to the dark variant and vice-versa, but I didn't see these thick borders. Another bug?
