shows wrong colors

Since the 25.2 update the app shows a wrong background behind the document in Writer. (see attachment). This also happens after a clean install in 25.2.2.

To repro:
Set your Windows PC to dark mode in system setting (if not already set).
Install LibreOffice 25.2.2.
LibreOffice Writer.
Set LibreOffice Settings Appearance to Light.
Restart app.
Error will happen. Even changing the setting back will keep the broken state.

25.2 can currently only be used correctly if the user activates light mode system-wide in the Windows settings.

Please test selecting a different theme, apply, and going back to automatic.

There is no other theme then automatic.
But even when I install one (Office 2023 blue), apply it, and then change it back to automatic, the background is black again as before. This does not solve the issue.

Thank you for reporting the bug, I can reproduce the issue in the 25.2.2.2 version. However, the dev version 25.8.0.0alpha0+ doesn't have this issue.

Markus, seems to be fixed with dev version. Please could you test it with
dev version? You can download it here:

Thank you

I just installed 25.8.1 - the problem still occurs and is not fixed.
Going back to 24.8

The problem is not the background of the document. It is the area around the background using the wrong color. In my first post I added a picture of the problem.

Broken Automatic state
Comment 10 Markus 2025-09-10 17:22:41 UTC
I also just added a second attachment.
If I do a clean install and set LibreOffice Settings Appearance to Light - the problem is the black around the document. However, if then set back LibreOffice Settings Appearance to Automatic, the automatic mode is also broken and not even text is visible anymore. I don't know if I really the only one expiring this. I assume the must be more people using LibreOffice with Windows System dark mode. But for me the new LibreOffice versions are all not usable except when I change Windows to light mode (which I don't want to).

Test disabling Skia
Menu>Tools>Options>LibreOffice>View

Just tested - but makes no difference.
Btw I tested it on 3 different Windows computers already.
They all have this bug.

So the problem here is that the chrome of the app is not dark. This no longer occurs with 25.8?

The problem here is that text set to Automatic colour is not rendered white, correct? Can you confirm that the text *is* actually formatted with Automatic colour and not black?
