Description: I find the Start Center very useful and efficient to Revisit Recently Opened LibreOffice Documents. Yes, it is possible to reopen them going through the Files Menu, but there are extra steps and there is no visual, like the Grid Thumbnail View in the Start Center. Not to change things up too much, I believe it would be feasible to add a Setting in the Options Menu in Checkbox form. Something that could resemble: "Keep the Start Center Open" or "Keep the Start Center Open after Opening a Document." I have found other user asking this question on "ask.libreoffice.org" which seems to indicate this feature would be appreciated by other users as well. Scenario User Case: This would be an option that changes LibreOffice's behavior only if the user deliberately and specifically launches LibreOffice's Start Center (the white and gray icon). Whether the Start Center is launched first, before all other programs, would not modify this behavior. The "Keep the Start Center Open" Setting would be disabled by default. Thank you for considering this Feature Suggestion. Steps to Reproduce: N/A Actual Results: N/A Expected Results: N/A Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: No Additional Info: N/A
May I add that the Start Center is very useful as it is the only way to remove files from the "recently used files" list, typically temporary files used only once (e.g. daily downloaded bank statements), thus saving room in the list for useful permanent files. Unfortunately, opening the Start Center previously requires to close all current work on LO. It would be nice to have in the "recently used files" menu, aside the "Clear list" action, a new action such as "Open Start Center" or "Edit list", allowing to open the Start Center in a pop up window at any time. As mentionned, this seems to be a frequently required feature that could satisfy many LO users. Thanks for considering it.
I think this is a reasonable request. Of course, the question would be: Where will this option be available? If it's under Tools > Options... , the discoverability would be very low; if on the menus of the Start Center, then - which menu? not File nor Help, for sure, Does it fit in Tools? Not really, no. So, another menu? Alternatively, it could be a toggle on the toolbar-that's-not-quite-a-toolbar, which currently contains the Filter drop-down listbox and the hamburger menu. Not sure what I think about that.
