Description: When launching LO Calc by double-clicking its shortcut, if there is an unsaved document from a previous session, that document is opened but not a new, blank Calc spreadsheet. This creates confusion, as the user initiated Calc but may be presented a Writer document and no Calc spreadsheet. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Create a Writer document and enter text, but do not save. 2. Close LO 'improperly' via system shutdown or forced close in Task Manager. 3. Double-click the Calc shortcut. 4. Choose 'Recover Selected' to recover the Writer document. Actual Results: A Writer recovery dialog appears and opens the unsaved Writer document. However, Calc does not open a new spreadsheet. Expected Results: LO should open both the recovered Writer doc AND a blank Calc spreadsheet. Spreadsheet should be on top. Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: No Additional Info: [Information automatically included from LibreOffice] Locale: en-US Module: SpreadsheetDocument [Information guessed from browser] OS: Windows (All) OS is 64bit: no Note: System is 'Windows 10 Home 64-bit,' per Speccy. However, auto-filled value says 'no.'

Thank you for reporting the bug. I can not reproduce the bug in Windows 10. A blank Calc spreadsheet opens. Version: 25.8.0.0.alpha0+ (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community Build ID: 9bc5b89c149497a83117edfadc3fb0b96d2f9899 CPU threads: 2; OS: Windows 10 X86_64 (build 19045); UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: win Locale: en-US (en_US); UI: en-US Calc: threaded
The bug occurs every time for me. Important Note: I have created LO Calc and LO Writer shortcuts in Windows Start. I use these to open a blank spreadsheet or document, respectively. Setup for testing bug: 1. Create Windows shortcut to "C:\Program Files\LibreOffice\program\scalc.exe" 2. In LO Writer, create new document, or edit an existing doc, but do not save it. 3. Close LO Writer via Windows Task Manager 4. Use LO Calc shortcut from step 1. If I skip steps 2 and 3, step 4 opens a blank spreadsheet, as it should. If I use all 4 steps, the LO Calc shortcut ONLY opens the unsaved Writer document from steps 2 & 3. The Calc shortcut fails to open a blank spreadsheet.
Reproduced. Version: 25.2.3.2 (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community Build ID: bbb074479178df812d175f709636b368952c2ce3 CPU threads: 8; OS: Windows 11 X86_64 (10.0 build 26100); UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: win Locale: ja-JP (ja_JP); UI: ja-JP Calc: CL threaded Jumbo Note: The recovery dialog restores the last saved content. The saving here includes not only manual saves but also auto saves (Tools -> Options -> Load/Save -> General -> Save AutoRecovery information every). Testing with a new Writer file and seeing a blank Calc file open as expected is likely because the auto save interval set has not yet elapsed, so there is no saved content. After allowing the specified time to pass and then closing Writer, the issue could be reproduced even with a new Writer file. Also, when I tried using Impress shortcuts instead of Calc shortcuts, the same issue occurred. Therefore, it's likely that this occurs not only with the combination of Writer and Calc but with all combinations.
Thank you for reporting the bug. I can confirm that the bug is present in master. Version: 25.8.0.0.alpha0+ Build ID: 9bc5b89c149497a83117edfadc3fb0b96d2f9899 TinderBox: Win-x86_64@tb77-TDF, Branch:master, Time: 2025-05-09 17:11:29
