Description jteera5 2025-05-07 04:09:00 UTC
Description:
Vowel ำ is render wrongly in Writer (see attachment)
Work around: open the search box, type the intended word there, copy the word and paste in Writer's document area. (see attachment)

Steps to Reproduce:
1.type a word with ำ e.g. ทำ นำ (2 strokes, not 3 strokes like ท ํ า or น ํ า since ำ is kind of a shortcut on Thai keyboards and Writer itself prevents typing the 3 strokes consecutively, i.e. you cannot type ทํา in Writer which could be another bug or feature in Writer).
2.Writer display the typed word uglily.
3.It happens in later versions of Writer, about version 25.x.x

Actual Results:
See attached picture.

Expected Results:
See attached picture.

Reproducible: Sometimes

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
Render the word correctly. You can probably see the browser display it correctly like ทำ นำ.

Build ID: 32c7035824e50429c4ffeb43d0bdf306ba8874e9
CPU threads: 8; OS: Linux 6.1; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3
Locale: es-ES (es_ES.UTF-8); UI: en-US
Calc: threaded

@Jonathan, do you reproduce it on your end ?

Unfortunately, I couldn't reproduce it in any of the following versions:

Version: 24.8.6.2 (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: d50be90c1d90f0f90a5235ffcbbafbbfa38a83c2
CPU threads: 32; OS: Linux 6.11; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3
Locale: en-US (en_US.UTF-8); UI: en-US
Calc: threaded

Version: 25.2.0.1 (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: ddb2a7ea3a8857aae619555f1a8743e430e146c9
CPU threads: 32; OS: Linux 6.11; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3
Locale: en-US (en_US.UTF-8); UI: en-US
Calc: threaded

Version: 25.8.0.0.alpha0+ (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: be12bc02844260d27afb49c39c747b7571dca9f1
CPU threads: 32; OS: Linux 6.11; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3
Locale: en-US (en_US.UTF-8); UI: en-US
Calc: threaded

Plausibly an instance of bug 166152, but I can't reproduce the bug with or without that change.

I use Linux Mint 22.1 Cinnamon Edition. And it just happens sometimes. You will need to install a Thai keyboard and actually type it. It does not occur if I start typing a word with ำ on a blank line. I can reproduce the bug on the sample document on the line that I showed it happened, i.e. the line that begins with เลือกลายที่คนนิยม คนทอทำไม่ทัน. When I typed ทำ at the end of this line the ugly rendering happens.

These are Thai people who replied in my previously reported bugs.

I don't know them and their roles in the LO community. But I think they could be helpful.
