Description Christian Lehmann 2025-05-08 13:14:11 UTC
Description:
The Navigator bar got floating somehow. There is no way to dock it (again) to the document window. The instruction of the 24.8 help page (To dock or undock the Navigator or the Styles window, hold down the Ctrl key and double-click on a gray area in the window. Alternatively, press Ctrl+Shift+F10.) works excellently in LO version 24.2.4.2 (on Linux), but does not work in 24.8 (on Windows); nor does any of the alternative methods recommended on various websites do the job.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Have a document open and the Navigator bar floating.
2. Hit SHIFT-CTRL-F10 on a grey area on the Navigator.

Actual Results:
No effect.

Expected Results:
The navigator bar should dock to the document window.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:

Seems to be a regression.

Can not confirm. <Ctrl>+<Shift>+<F10> toggles dock and undock of the full Sidebar. Or the <F5> flavor of the Navigator deck.

Additionally, grab & dragging the floating app frame should toggle a docking location visible as the mouse pointer passes over it--the left edge or the right edge of the main LO app frame.

If neither works, try in safe mode--or simply reset user profile, and retest.

Okay, after resetting the user profile, docking works instantly.
I confess that - as you have noticed - I am generally loath to reset my user profile as it involves much restitution work afterward. Maybe a check for corrupted user profile could be built into the shutdown process of LibreOffice.
