Description: All non-ASCII characters are displayed as empty rectangles in the "Notes" section in the "Presenter Console" (see "LO3….jpg"). The presentation is old, but changed from time to time. The problem appeared after an LibreOffice update this year and since then, all presentations are affected. I add more technical information below. In this presentation (see "Lektion….odp"), the used font is not installed any more, but MacOS provides a replacement font (see "LO1….jpg" on the left side). Using other fonts for the Notes' text does not help. Neither when formatting the Notes' text directly, nor when changing the font in the Style "Notes". It does not matter, if editing the Notes using "View"→"Views Tab Bar"→"Notes", or the new "View"→"Notes Pane". Some more errors, maybe related, are: The (old) Font name is not displayed in the font selector (see "LO1….jpg"). However, the font name is selectable with the mouse, can be copied, and pasted in a different programm (see "LO2….jpg"). The "Animation" view is not diplaying the non-ASCII characters, which are displayed on the Slide itself (see "LO4….jpg"). Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open the attached presentation on an intel-x86 based Mac. 2. Start the Slide Show with a Presenter Console. 3. Open the Notes view in the Presenter Console. Actual Results: All non-ASCII characters are displayed as empty rectangles. All other character are displayed normally. Expected Results: All characters are displayed. Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: Yes Additional Info: All these errors appear with: Version: 24.8.5.2 (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community Build ID: fddf2685c70b461e7832239a0162a77216259f22 CPU threads: 8; OS: macOS 15.5; UI render: Skia/Metal; VCL: osx Locale: de-DE (de_DE.UTF-8); UI: en-US Calc: threaded Version: 24.8.6.2 (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community Build ID: 6d98ba145e9a8a39fc57bcc76981d1fb1316c60c CPU threads: 8; OS: macOS 15.5; UI render: Skia/Metal; VCL: osx Locale: de-DE (de_DE.UTF-8); UI: de-DE Calc: threaded Version: 24.8.6.2 (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community Build ID: 6d98ba145e9a8a39fc57bcc76981d1fb1316c60c CPU threads: 8; OS: macOS 15.5; UI render: Skia/Metal; VCL: osx Locale: de-DE (de_DE.UTF-8); UI: en-US Calc: threaded Version: 25.2.3.2 (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community Build ID: bbb074479178df812d175f709636b368952c2ce3 CPU threads: 8; OS: macOS 15.5; UI render: Skia/Metal; VCL: osx Locale: de-DE (de_DE.UTF-8); UI: de-DE Calc: threaded The errors do NOT appear on an Apple Sillicon Mac! Using "LibreOffice"→"Preferences…"→"LibreOffice"→"Fonts"→"Replacement Table" does not help.
Thank you for reporting the bug. I can not reproduce the bug in either of the versions of LibreOffice listed below. I'm using an Intel-based Mac and I'm able to see the non-ASCII characters displaying properly. Version: 25.8.0.0.alpha1+ (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community Build ID: 84da1f50ca8261129909901c2ff72adb9c67510a CPU threads: 8; OS: macOS 15.2; UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: osx Locale: en-US (en_US.UTF-8); UI: en-US Calc: threaded Version: 25.2.3.2 (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community Build ID: bbb074479178df812d175f709636b368952c2ce3 CPU threads: 8; OS: macOS 15.2; UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: osx Locale: en-US (en_US.UTF-8); UI: en-US Calc: threaded

I think it is due to a font called 'tofu' related to issues with the Japanese language. By the way, is it possible to change the Sans font used in the presenter console in LibreOffice? Do you know anyone?
Problem solved, it is NOT a LibreOffice bug: I searched for information about how to configure LibreOffice's UI, and found "LibreOffice"→"Preferences…": "LibreOffice"→"Advanced"→"Open Expert Configuration": "Expert Configuration". After searching for "font" in "Preference Name", Chinese characters are not displayed here as expected, but Korean characters are displayed (see "LO6….png"). I then checked the font names configured for Chinese "UI_SANS". From the ones having latin names, most are not available on my Mac, or did not contain Chinese characters. But "PingFang SC" is available and does contain Chinese characters, but was uninistalled on my wife's Mac (unknown why, when, by whom, because "PingFang HK", "PingFang MO" and "PingFang TC" are istalled!). After reinstalling "PingFang SC" and restarting LibreOffice, Chinese characters are displayed in dialogs and in the "Presenter Console" normally again. @Saburo: The "UI_SANS" font names are used for the "Presenter Console", too. So it is not an LibreOffice bug, but it was "just" a missing font. Thank you for trying to reproduce the error!
