From the ubuntu libreoffice-l10n-en-gb package description:

Spelling dictionaries, hyphenation patterns, thesauri and help are not
included in this package. There are some available in separate packages
(myspell-*, hyphen-*, mythes-*, libreoffice-help-*)

then search for mythes in ubuntu repository, suitable for the release you have installed.

A thesaurus IS available IF

Set Tools > Options > Languages & Locales > General > Default Language for Documents > Western = English (US)

or other language variant.

When researching this issue, there are no clear/user friendly methods to gain access to a British thesaurus.

For example when attempting:

$ sudo apt install mythes-en-gb
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree... Done
Reading state information... Done
Package mythes-en-gb is not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
is only available from another source

E: Package 'mythes-en-gb' has no installation candidate

It's not LO pb but distrib pb, see https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=48340 + https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openoffice.org-dictionaries/+bug/950949

I read quickly but it seems that installing mythes-en-us may help since it'd contain both en-us + en-gb but not sure if it's still the case in 2025.
