Description Ahuda Gorman 2025-06-13 17:40:29 UTC
Description:
I have auto-updates disabled, but when trying to open a document AND when trying to revert to an earlier version, an installation of the new version is enforced on me. And the update reverts all my personalized settings to default.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Try to open a document created with 25.2.3.1
2.Try to get the program to revert to the earlier version
3.

Actual Results:
It announces "please wait for installation" and installs the newer version and wipes out all my settings.

Expected Results:
As above

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
First of all, not force the upgrade on me willy-nilly. 2nd, not wipe out all my personal settings - which I spent a LOT of time on, with each new upgrade.

Well that sounds like the MAR update applying. Not sure why *if* you've unchecked the Tools -> Options -> Online Update 'Automatic Update' "Enable automatic update" the MAR (I guess 25.2.3.1 -> 25.2.4.3) would run.

Could you please post the update.log from your Windows account %AppData% folder:

should be in "C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\LibreOffice\4\updates"

Also, copy and post the Help -> About LibreOffice build details. And do a search of the Windows registry for the HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Currentversion\Installer for the InstallerProperties Key and the HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall present for your LibreOffice install.

Sorry. I discovered that while I unticked auto updates in Calc, I apparently forgot to do it separately in Writer. None-the-less, the fat that all settings disappear after an update is, to me, a bug.

Hmm, generally non-module Tools -> Options changes are global and should be done with just one instance of the UI open. If you had both calc and writer open, I guess that could possibly happen--maybe even the Quick start instance.

As to loosing your profile "settings" those should be unaffected by MAR or applied MSI update--except when crossing major build 24.8.x -> 25.2.x updates. MAR incrementals aren't being build for that--so only an MSI update might cause an issue.

Absent update logs, we can't do anything with this.
