Description r.poroliseanu 2025-08-03 06:51:57 UTC
Description:
I had been using the most previous stable versions to avoid this issue since downloading and installing version 25.2.5 caused this issue before, but now that it's the only version available for download aside from the experimental build (25.8 I believe is what that version is), I have no previous version to fall back on that can officially be downloaded. Theoretically, I could just uninstall it and then reinstall the previous version, but I reckon you would want to make sure this is something that can be fixed on your end if it's an issue with the build itself and not my computer. The issue with version 25.2.5 is that every time I try to open it, regardless of whether it's from the taskbar, from the desktop, or from the start menu (or by opening it with a document), it won't open. It will load when clicked, but won't open the program and it won't appear in the Task Manager when I try to find it. I'm unsure of what the issue could be and was hoping you would be of assistance.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install LibreOffice 25.2.5 and restart as per recommendation (I didn't restart immediately, so I'm unsure if that could have affected it).
2. Click on the icon to open it.

Actual Results:
The program would pop up and load as though it is going to open as it usually did, but it wouldn't open and it wouldn't appear in the Task Manager whenever I tried to see it while trying to open the program.

Expected Results:
The program should have opened as usual, showing me all of my recently edited documents in the menu and allow me to click on any of them to open them in their respective branch (usually Writer).

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
I haven't tried resetting my UserProfile but considering that I can't even open the program at all now, I can't even reset it even if I wanted to in order to see if that would fix it.

Full archive of official TDF built installers are maintained by project.

https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

But, helpful to fully remove LibreOffice if you're having install issue.

Perform a complete uninstall (appwiz.cpl add/remove), Win registry clean up (, LibreOffice profile deletion or rename (default "%APPDATA%\LibreOffice\4"), and restart. Check Win registry for any residual "LibreOffice|soffice|DocumentFoundation" strings, and determine what they're held over from. If nothing proceed with a "clean" install of the .MSI package.

Run a cmd window or powershell 'as administrator'

Use the command line installer, e.g. "msiexec.exe /i and /L*v installLog.txt LibreOffice_25.2.5.2_Win_x86-64.msi" to log the install.

If all goes well, should install and come up clean on first launch. If not Zip up the log file and post it with a description of what is happening.
