Description scott4aves 2025-08-05 12:38:34 UTC
Description:
How do you have a non-capitalized, single "i" in a Calc cell? If I type a single "i", it reverts to a capital "I" when I leave the cell. How do I prevent that? if preceded by another letter, it stay small.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.type i
2.hit return
3.now there is a capital I instead of a small i

Actual Results:
get capital I

Expected Results:
should stay as small i

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: Yes

Additional Info:
should stay as small i

If you have questions about use of the software, please ask a question on resources like https://ask.libreoffice.org. In your case, you may consider disabling automatic replacement in autocorrect options (either removing a single rule, or disabling as a whole); or pressing Crtl+Z at the moment of entry, when autocorrection happened; or marking cells that don't contain text as using "none" language.

Well, if "i" is the only letter that you have to go to all that trouble to prevent its capitalization, I believe that this is a bug, not a feature, that needs fixing! At least, reverting to a capital "I" should not be the default, especially since it is the only letter this happens with!!

And thanks for the current work-arounds, silly as they are!

Well, that's a bug of English language, where "I" is the only single-character word that is always capitalized. But shrug; I'm not into edit wars.
