Description Ross 2025-08-07 05:03:23 UTC
Using Writer or Calc (not tried any others) while in a mimimised state on the left side of my screen - it is half the width of the screen, but full height of the screen.
After opening and closing documents multiple times, the windows bottom bar creeps down progressively further each time until it disapears below the screen limit.
The right side of the window creeps increasingly across the centre line of my screen also.
Calc takes about 23 times of opening and closing docs before the bottom bar disapears, and Writer takes about 18 times
Need to resize every so often.
Would be great if the page remained its original size.

Not reproducible on my systems

I tested this issue on both Linux and Windows on LO Calc following the described steps.

In both environments, I snapped LibreOffice Calc to the left half of the screen and repeatedly opened and closed spreadsheet documents (15–25 cycles) within the same Calc window. The window remained stable throughout the test. I did not observe any vertical or horizontal window creep, and the bottom status bar remained fully visible.

Tested environments:

Linux:
LibreOffice 7.3.7.2 (Ubuntu package)
OS: Ubuntu 22.04 (kernel 6.8)
VCL: gtk3
UI render: default

Windows:
LibreOffice 25.8.3.2 (X86_64)
OS: Windows 11
UI render: Skia/Vulkan
VCL: win

My humble apologies in my description, I was not opening and closing spreadsheet documents within the same Calc window.
I should have stated "the opening and closing of the Calc window."
I was opening the Calc window by double clicking a spreadsheet document, but then I would close the Calc window, not the document.

Please copy and paste here the content of your Help - About by clicking the copy button. This allows us to know more about your system. Also, would be interesting to hear, if you still see this with 25.8. An appimage is one way to try it: https://www.libreoffice.org/download/appimage/

Set to NEEDINFO.
Change back to UNCONFIRMED after you have provided the information.

I use the LibreOffice window in a mimimised state on the left side of my screen - it is half the width of the screen, but full height of the screen.
I often use Calc mostly, sometimes Writer in this way.
I am often opening and closing the LibreOffice window multiple times during the week, by double clicking a spreadsheet to open the LibreOffice window, and then closing the window when I'm finished using that spreadsheet.

The right side of the LibreOffice window creeps increasingly across the centre line of my screen.
The LibreOffice windows bottom bar creeps down progressively further each time it is opened until it disapears below the screen limit.
Eventually the LibreOffice windows top title and menu bar disappears under my desktops top panel.
I then have to use the Alt+Space keys to resize the window to bring everything back to its oringinal size again.
If I remember, I resize the window every so often to avoid this.

Calc takes about 23 times of opening and closing the LibreOffice window before the bottom bar disapears, and Writer takes about 18 times.

It would be great if the LibreOffice window remained stable, in its original size.

I haven't tried the AppImage version as yet, and I would rather not want to try it if I don't have. Thanks just the same

Thanks for the information. I fully understand it is tedious to do the testing, but it would be quite useful to hear how 25.8 behaves.

I've tried the latest still.Basic version of AppImage now, and found that I'm not able to open a document from the document itself, the search window using the mouse: right click - Open With/Open With Other Application, does not list the AppImage version.
I have to execute the AppImage program, which is sitting on my desktop, and then choose the document desired within the program itself, once opened.
No matter how I save the document, either with AppImage or LibreOffice installed on my computer, the document, with AppImage, always opens in its expanded view, preventing any way of testing for window drift with a minimised view.
