Description: Images of the format *.png, embedded via Insert>Image or via Paste from clipboard are NOT printed although visual in preview. Images of the format *.jpg are correctly processed, as well as the *.png images converted to *.jpg. Steps to Reproduce: 1.create document, empty or containing some text. 2.paste image from clipboard or insert image from file (*.png) 3.prepare to print: shows already missing image on preview part Actual Results: Empty spots on the printed paper Expected Results: Would produce the page(s) as previewed while editing in Writer Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: No Additional Info: I am not sure when this bug appeared; over the years I have embedded scores of images in my documents; as I standardised on *.png because of image quality it must all have been *.png I seem to remember that I did not have these problems in release 24 but I might be wrong as I did not embed images for a year or so.
No repro for me with Version: 25.8.1.1 (AARCH64) Build ID: 54047653041915e595ad4e45cccea684809c77b5 CPU threads: 8; OS: macOS 15.6.1; UI render: Skia/Metal; VCL: osx Locale: fr-FR (fr_FR.UTF-8); UI: fr-FR Calc: threaded 1) Open Writer 2) Type some text 3) Insert PNG image via Insert menu 4) Print out page from Writer 5) Page prints out with image on it. Does the PNG have any particular qualities, e.g. transparency, alpha, etc ?

Very strange: the preview button (or Shift+Cmd+O ) shows the page WITH picture. ;JOOP!
Updated to 25.8.1 :: exactly the same behaviour. ;JOOP!
Could you post the LibreOffice -> About information

It might be that the release build hasn't been built with a signed libpng.dyld, or that it isn't signed with the correct authorisations. There's an xattr command line instruction you might try to see if any improvement. I'm not in front of my Mac, so don't remember what it is right now. Another thought I've had is that I've probably installed a libpng version of some kind via Homebrew and maybe this is being called on my system.
The problem is still there: a page with christmas card labels was not printed on TAHOE 26.2 running writer 25.8.4.2 Had to print from an older INTEL machine running 24.8.4 Document in question follows. ;JOOP!

@Dan, is it something you can reproduce on your end ?
About reproductability (!?): I got a Studio M1, a Studio M2 and a macbook Pro M2, all on 26.2 Tahoo. The problem seems to have started while all machines ran 15.x Sequoia, after installing Writer 25.2 As mentioned, my old Intel iMac running 24.8.2 has no problems with the document while the printer is the same (CANON MB 2750). ;JOOP!
I can reproduce the issue in 25.8.2.2 if Skia is disabled. I cannot reproduce the issue in latest git master and in the following build if Skia is *enabled*. Version: 25.8.2.2 (AARCH64) Build ID: d401f2107ccab8f924a8e2df40f573aab7605b6f CPU threads: 8; OS: macOS 26.2; UI render: default; VCL: osx Locale: en-US (en_US.UTF-8); UI: en-US Calc: threaded
That would work for me, but, I seem to remember that using SKIA all the time would spoil something else. Is that the case? Otherwise I would like to consider problem solved and case closed. Thanks any way. ;JOOP!

Skia is mandatory on macOS with LibreOffice 26 and later as of https://gerrit.libreoffice.org/c/core/+/186250 (merged June 13, 2025). So yeah, it's "fixed", but I'd still like to figure out what the issue was...
Thanks for the info. ;JOOP!
This commit fixes the issue when Skia is disabled: "Revert: draw alpha bitmaps directly to print graphics on macOS" https://gerrit.libreoffice.org/c/core/+/190496 We can consider this fixed in 26+ but we're still supporting 25.8 until mid-2026, so this commit should get backported.

Hi Dan, Thanks for finding the commit fixing the issue. It has been backported to libreoffice-25-8 branch in https://gerrit.libreoffice.org/c/core/+/196114

Mouse over on main toolbar, for example, shows icons against a black background.
Exactly, mouse over shows .... black upon black: some icons almost disappear. Whatever it is, eventually unworkable. ;JOOP!
I should have made my comment like this: If this effect is the result of enabling SKIA in 25.8.4 then we probably did not make too much progress. ;JOOP!
I checked: it is NOT SKIA. Do I need to file a new bug report? ;JOOP!

Please, create another ticket for it. Meanwhile, https://gerrit.libreoffice.org/c/core/+/196114 has been merged and this issue can be consider FIXED. The fix will be available in LibreOffice 25.8.5
