Description: In Libre Office Writer I often use a sidebar tab "Properties" where I can easily change character and paragraph formatting in one place. Everything seemed to wrok fine until I started to experiment with different user interfaces (View -> User Interfaces...). When I chose an interface with minimal horizontal toolbars, the interface elements of the sidebar (icons, dropdowns etc.) started to flicker while I was moving around cursor or was typing text. I investigated further and found that the flickering effect depends on the window height - when the vertical size of the window is big enough, the flickering starts (it seems to be a reason why I didn't discover the problem earlier - when there are many horizontal toolbars the height of the sidebar is not big enough for the effect to show up). The flickering is very irritating and makes work with documents hard. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open Libre Office Writer 2. Expand the sidebar "Properties" tab. 3. In View -> Toolbars disable most of the horizontal toolbars or just resize Libre Office window making it high (e.g. on a big display). 4. Move your cursor around or start typing. Actual Results: The elements of interface in the sidebar panel are flickering while the cursor is moving or the text is being typed. Expected Results: The elements of interface in the sidebar panel are not flickering while the cursor is moving or the text is being typed. Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: Yes Additional Info: Version: 7.3.7.2 / LibreOffice Community Build ID: 30(Build:2) CPU threads: 4; OS: Linux 5.15; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3 Locale: pl-PL (pl_PL.UTF-8); UI: en-US Ubuntu package version: 1:7.3.7-0ubuntu0.22.04.10 Calc: threaded
Not reproducible on my systems I tested this issue following the provided steps on both Linux and Windows. With the Properties sidebar open, minimal toolbars enabled, and the Writer window maximized vertically, I did not observe any flickering of sidebar elements while typing or moving the cursor. Jan: can you check with 25.8? One way is to use an appimage: https://www.libreoffice.org/download/appimage/
