Description Victor 2025-08-29 13:51:39 UTC
Description:
I have a spreadsheet I was working on in 25.2.5. I upgraded to 25.8.1 and almost all of the data is missing or reformatted and in various areas cells are resizd. It also does not see to be using Dark Mode formatting as 25.2.5 did. I have images I tried to post in the forums to see if there was something I was doing before making a ticket but my account got banned for doing that. Macbook Air M3, MacOS 15.6.1

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open file
2. Moan because document is unusable.
3. Post bug report

Actual Results:
My file appeared to have missing fields, some columns were reformatted. Some data was visible while other data was not.

Expected Results:
I expected my file to appear the same as it did originally.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
I expected my file to appear the same as it did originally. Sorry I'm not more verbose - it'd be much easier to show rather than try to express this in text.

Thank you for reporting the bug. To be certain the reported issue is not
related to corruption in the user profile, could you please reset your
Libreoffice profile (<https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/UserProfile>) and
re-test?

I have set the bug's status to 'NEEDINFO'. Please change it back to
'UNCONFIRMED' if the issue is still present.

This could solve your bug. Anyway, waiting for feedback from you.

I attempted to do the “quick check to see if the profile is corrupted” but my terminal didn’t like the command listed for MacOS:

open LibreOffice.app -env:UserInstallation=file:///tmp/test
open: invalid option — :

Following the instructions on the link you provided, I ran 25.8.1 in Safe Mode and the same issue presented.

I changed the name of my profile folder allowing 25.8.1 to create a new profile, but the same issue continued to manifest.

The data is there. If I click on the fields, the data appears above in the entry field, but as you can tell from the screenshots, the presentation is significantly affected and is not consistently applied. I am sure I can make this usable again with some reformatting and rearrangement…but I shouldn’t have to. Something isn’t working as expected.

Please test in safe mode, Menu/Help/Restart in Safe Mode

BTW looks like an issue with the appearance.

Test playing with the options in:
Menu>Tools>Options>LibreOffice>Appearance

I'm not sure what you are wanting me to do. When I ran 25.8.1 in Safe Mode, the spreadsheet appeared the same as it did outside of Safe Mode.

Not in Safe Mode but entering Preferences/Libreoffice/Appearance and changing the LibreOffice Theme from Automatic to Dark, the spreadsheet regained the expected appearance. However, that doesn't explain why a) it changed modes, or b) why some cell text was visible and other cell text was not. I had not specifically applied a color to any of the cell data. It should all have been white on white, black on white, or white on black, consistently.

If you have not applied a colour specifically, then the colour is Automatic and will adapt per the cell background. This might explain what we see in your second screenshot - presumably the text shown in black is formatted with Automatic colour. You can let us know how it is.
