Description xordevoreaux 2025-09-10 15:20:04 UTC
Description:
Using Calc, if I set up a named range, and then use that range as the cell range for Data Validity, I can save the calc document all I want, but I can neither close the document nor quit LibreOffice. I must kill LO via task manager.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open a new Calc document
2. Enter a few cells worth of data
3. Highlight the range
4. Select Sheet...Named Ranges and expressions
5. Name the range. Do nothing with additional options.
6. Close the dialog (hit Add)

At this point, you can still return to the Manage option for named ranges and close the document and LO.

7. Select a cell somewhere else on the spreadsheet
8. Select Data, Validity...
9. On the Validity dialog box's tab "Criteria" under Allow, select "Cell Range"
10. Enter the named range that you created earlier as the source in the source field
11. Hit OK to dismiss the dialog

At this point, a black/white down arrow appears next to the cell you selected for data validity. You can select values from the named range to populate the cell.

Nothing appears wrong, and you can still save the file, but now you cannot close the Calc file nor quit LibreOffice. You must force quit the app via Task Manager.

Actual Results:
Stuck app

Expected Results:
App and file can be closed.

Reproducible: Always

Calc file I used for testing

This is the fresh, new file I used just now for testing. On it are two named ranges for two separate tests, Sample_Data and SampleData2

Cells C3 and C10 reference Sample_Data and SampleData2, respectively, as drop-lists created using Data, Validity... as described in my stepwise procedure.

I had to force quit LO and recover the file after each test.
