Description: After installing LibreOffice version 25.8 on my system, I noticed that the desktop shortcut icon appears as a plain white square instead of the expected LibreOffice logo. This makes it difficult to visually identify the application among other desktop items. Steps to Reproduce: 1.Install LibreOffice 25.8 2.Create or observe the desktop shortcut 3.Notice that the icon is a blank white square Actual Results: the icon is a blank white square Expected Results: The desktop shortcut should display the LibreOffice logo/icon as usual. Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: No Additional Info: I’ve tried refreshing the icon cache and recreating the shortcut, but the issue persists. Please advise if there's a workaround or if this is a known bug.
Thank you for reporting the bug. Could you please try to reproduce it with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/libreoffice-fresh/ ? I have set the bug's status to 'NEEDINFO'. Please change it back to 'UNCONFIRMED' if the bug is still present in the latest version.
I suggest that importance of this bug is changed from normal to major. It has been present already for years without a fix and causes significant disruption for upgrade process. This and all related bugs have been present in Libreoffice Windows for at least 3-4 years, probably more. Every time I ugrade Libreoffice it breaks icons of Writer and Calc (probably because they are most used parts of LO by me) and changes them to plain white documents. I think it also affects the general libreoffice icon to some degree. In best times it takes 2 minutes to fix it. In worse times (like just 5min ago) it takes 15-30 minutes to fix it, killing explorer and then deleting iconcache from C:\Users\USERNAME\Appdata\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Explorer, restarting explorer. Sometimes it works some times it does not. Sometimes starting calc or writer by double clicking executables in C:\Program Files\Libreoffice, and then pinning it fixes the issue sometimes it does not fix. Sometimes attempting reboots in between if it would fix. It is hard to identify root cause. This is Libreoffice spesific problem/bug, NO other apps I use or has used breaks icon in every upgrade. And I have reproduced this in at least 2 different windows 11 machines, potentially even 3-4. This is main reason I avoid upgrading at all as having generic icon on taskbar makes it hard to use.
