Description Heiko Tietze 2025-09-24 08:16:39 UTC
OpenCL and CPU Threading both available under Tools > Options > Calc > Calculate (after bug 151144 / https://gerrit.libreoffice.org/c/core/+/187559) are expert settings that most users should never touch. It works reliably and if really needed, admins can disable the option via expert settings.

Well, this is not true about OpenCL and we should instead look into removing the feature completely, if threaded calculation indeed covers the use case.

admins?

Also - we have an "Advanced" item in the config UI tree. Are you sure that this option should be removed altogether rather than moved to "Advanced"?

He is proposing to move it into Expert Configuration under advanced.

The problem with expert configuration is that it's like a bottomless pit.
Especially since the use of regular expressions has not yet been implemented in searches.
Nor has the ability to copy an option with the path, which would be particularly useful in helping users locate the options.
