Description: In the latest version of LibreOffice Writer, since the last major version change (25.8), a bug has persisted whereupon highlighting text within a sentence will create a white fill-color running to the end of the line. This is only visible when the document background is set to a non-white color. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Set Writer's document background (Tools > Options > Appearance) to something other than white. 2. write a sentence ("This is a test") 3. select the words "is a" and press the option to highlight 4. "is a" will be highlighted, but the rest of the line will have a white fill-color. 5. Further, if one tries to select the area of text "test" and tell the highlight tool to have no color, it will not change the fill-color and will remain white. However, one could choose to highlight the rest of the line with a non-white fill color, but this is no solution, of course. Actual Results: The unselected portion of the text which appears after the chosen, highlighted section takes a white fill-color. Expected Results: The highlight tool should have only effected the selected text and left the proceeding text without any formatting change. Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: Yes Additional Info: I also tried entirely deleting my .var/app/org.libreoffice.LibreOffice folder to see if a fresh setup would render a different result. It did not.
The bug was solved meanwhile in version 25.8.3., but it is not yet available. Will be released: Week 46 , Nov 11, 2024 - Nov 17, 2024. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 168344 ***
