Description questions2000 2025-10-24 22:11:58 UTC
Description:
In 'Customize - Keyboard (tab)` common default shortcut combinations do not have actions shown to be linked to them, but they do perform common actions.
For example
CTRL+N = does not show "new"
However this shortcut combination does open new file

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open `Customize` window

2. Select the `Keyboard` tab

3. Look at the following shortcut combinations and you will see they do not have actions assigned to them
CTRL+N = new
CTRL+S = save
SHIFT+CTRL+S = save
CTRL+Q = quit

CTRL+O = open (this one has the "open" action assigned to it)

These are just the ones I have seen, not sure if there are any others.

Actual Results:
Even though these shortcut combinations are empty / do not have any actions linked to them, they do perform actions

Expected Results:
Actions should be shown in these common shortcuts so user can know that they are currently already being used.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

I have tested this in Calc and Writer and this occurs in both applications.

Here is similar bug post I mentioned

Here is another common action I forgot to mention
CTRL+P = print

Top-right, you can select between LibreOffice or the aplication in use.

@m_a_riosv
Thank you for reply.
I am aware of that radio button in the top right, but in this situation because these actions are common it seems like the actions should still show up in the Application-Name radio button (for example: Calc or Writer).

I would still allow these shortcut/actions to be replaced with new custom action if user wanted to but because they do currently perform the common actions mentioned, to me it would seem like the actions should still be shown even in the Applications shortcut section.
Unless I am not following what you have mentioned?

'Return' Key
I deliberately did not mention this one in the list because I knew I needed to create a separate post about this because there is no action currently available to assign to this key (at least not one I am aware of)
The 'Return' key is another common shortcut/action that I noticed does not show an action assigned to it in the Shortcuts window.

Specific post about the 'Return' key can be found here if anyone is interested

Confirmed.

The Customize > Keyboard menu fails to display the assigned functions for many common, hard-coded shortcuts (like Ctrl+N and Ctrl+S) in the "Shortcut Keys" list. They just appear blank, even though the shortcuts are functional.
