Not sure whether to call this a bug, but it is at least bad user experience.

To select part of a link text in Writer you can do:
* Click on start of the to be selected text. Hold shift key down and click on end of the to be selected text.
* Click on start of the to be selected text. Hold shift key down and use the arrow keys of the keyboard.
* To select a single word of the link text, double-click it.
