I can't confirm with Version: 25.8.2.2 (X86_64) Build ID: d401f2107ccab8f924a8e2df40f573aab7605b6f CPU threads: 12; OS: Windows 11 X86_64 (build 26200); UI render: Skia/Vulkan; VCL: win Locale: de-DE (de_DE); UI: en-GB Calc: CL threaded Tested several times Perhaps only a problem with Linux or resolved in actual version. Brayden, could you please retest with LO 25.8 or actual master? => NEEDINFO
(In reply to Dieter from comment #1) Sorry, I am not a computer person, what is the actual master? And I don't know if it means anything, but I am not on an administrator account for my computer. Version Information: Version: 24.2.7.2 (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community Build ID: 420(Build:2) CPU threads: 8; OS: Linux 6.14; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3 Locale: en-US (en_US.UTF-8); UI: en-US Ubuntu package version: 4:24.2.7-0ubuntu0.24.04.4 Calc: threaded
If you're not the adminstrator it's of course not possible for you to test another version. Perhaps only related to Linux.
I attempted to reproduce this issue on Windows using the same steps, but I couldn’t trigger the freeze. System Details: OS: Windows 11 LibreOffice: 25.8.2.2 (X86_64) Result: Writer remained responsive. No freeze or stall. No “LibreOffice isn’t responding” dialog appeared. CPU load stayed normal and could not reproduce any freeze or hang. I cannot reproduce the issue on Windows with LibreOffice 25.8.2.2.
Brayden: on Linux, you might be able to try an appimage version: https://www.libreoffice.org/download/appimage/
Created attachment 204179 [details] This is what I did to cause the error This bug is caused with only 3 sections, no more and no less. Also you absolutely have to press the enter key at least once for the bug to occur. I have reproduced this multiple times included is an attachment for what I did.
Created attachment 204180 [details] This is what happens after it crashes. So, maybe the bug is only on linux but I am showing you that it happened.
Reproduced, already in oldest of linux-43all bibisect repo.
Created attachment 204203 [details] Example file Start typing into the first column and don't stop until it hangs. Don't paste, type.
Created attachment 204204 [details] GDB trace of hang
Also reproduced on Windows. Version: 26.2.0.0.alpha0+ (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community Build ID: 620(Build:0) CPU threads: 2; OS: Windows 11 X86_64 (build 26100); UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: win Locale: en-US (en_US); UI: en-US Calc: threaded
Considering the issue has been around since 3.5 I would suggest to lower the priority a bit to 'high'. @Ilmari, if you disagree, please revert this change
