Description: The calibri icon set uses an x on red background as icon for closing the search bar (open it, e.g. with Ctrl+F). This might suggest a destructive action in the document to some users and is inconsistent with other buttons we use for closing non-modal UI elements which is usually designated by a simple x without a red backgroud. Suggestion: Change search bar close icon in colibri to simple x without a red backgroud to match other parts of the interface Steps to Reproduce: 1. Change iconset to Colibre (Tools - Options - LibreOffice - Appearance) 2. Press Ctrl+F in Writer or Calc 2. Close the toolbar again with the button on the left Actual Results: The button to close the bar is an x on red background Expected Results: The button to close the bar should be an x on the general background color of the app, similar to the close button on sidebars. Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: No Additional Info: Version: 25.8.2.2 (X86_64) Build ID: d401f2107ccab8f924a8e2df40f573aab7605b6f CPU threads: 8; OS: Windows 11 X86_64 (build 26100); UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: win Locale: de-DE (de_DE); UI: en-US Calc: threaded

Hey Jan - thank you for reporting this issue. I see what you are saying, and I am able to reproduce it in Version: 25.8.3.2 (AARCH64) Build ID: 8ca8d55c161d602844f5428fa4b58097424e324e CPU threads: 11; OS: macOS 15.6.1; UI render: Skia/Metal; VCL: osx Locale: en-US (en_US.UTF-8); UI: en-US Calc: threaded I have tagged this so the UX team can review this.
Created attachment 204557 [details] Icons closepreview.png The toolbar allows customization. The UNO command uno:ExitSearch which icon is linked to .uno:ClosePreview, that effectively has the Swiss-like colors. But not limited to Colibre. The command .uno:ClosePreview is used on Notebookbars, for example the Tabbed variant at the Print tab (when showing the preview). And on classic UI toolbars/ we have it on contextmenu and toolbar when showing the print preview. (In reply to jan d from comment #0) > This might suggest a destructive action in the document... Doubt this. And actually it is destructive in the sense of closing a view. If you search for "icon close" most icons use red colors. But I'm not opposing a special icon for closing a toolbar.
-1, on the principle that it is up to the icon theme designers to make their design choices for the symbology and iconography they present. The red-X to close is implemented across all icon themes except Sifr. Are we asking to designers to change all the themes? Seems like change for changes sake. IMHO => NAB and a clear => WF
