Description Joshua Slater 2025-12-20 10:56:42 UTC
Description:
The bug occurred when I created a document in Word 2016 on a school computer, saved it to OneDrive, downloaded it to my laptop, used LibreOffice to convert it to an ODT document and then edited it, then uploaded it back to OneDrive, opened it in Word 2016 on the school computer and converted it back to a docx file with the same name, edited it, then downloaded it back to my laptop, and deleted the original article.docx file from my laptop and cut and paste the article.docx file I'd downloaded from OneDrive into the folder the previous file was in. I double-clicked the file to open it in LibreOffice, and it showed me the contents of the old file (which I'd deleted) rather than the new file with the edits I'd made. (I know it wasn't a Word bug because I then opened the file in OnlyOffice and it opened properly.)

I tried to reproduce the issue by creating a document in Word online, downloading it, editing it in LibreOffice, uploading it back to OneDrive and editing it in Word online, and then downloading it back to my computer and opening it in LibreOffice, but that didn't reproduce the bug; it worked as it was supposed to.
I think reproducing the bug successfully would require me to use another computer to edit the file in Word.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create a document in Word 2016 (call it article.docx), write some stuff, and save it to OneDrive
2. Download it to a computer running Fedora Silverblue
3. Open it in LibreOffice
4. Edit it and save it as article.odt
5. Upload article.odt back to OneDrive and then power off your computer
6. Log onto your other computer, open OneDrive, delete article.docx, open article.odt in Word 2016, and edit it again and save it as article.docx
7. Download article.docx from OneDrive into your downloads folder on your laptop running Fedora Silverblue
8. Delete the old version of article.docx from the folder you were working in and cut the version from downloads and paste it into the folder you were working in
9. Double-click on it to open it in LibreOffice

Actual Results:
It opens the old version of the file (which I deleted)
Clicking Refresh doesn't fix it

Expected Results:
It opens the file I double-clicked on

Reproducible: Couldn't Reproduce

Joshua, I suppose that nobody would try to reproduce the Bug, until it ist at least possible for you to reproduce IT with the provided steps. So could you please try and give feedback? Thank you.
