Description David García 2025-12-24 18:44:26 UTC
Description:
When I intend to paste some text from an external source (for example, a webpage or the WhatsApp app) into a Writer document, LibreOffice creates a new document and the text is pasted there.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. From a external source, I select and copy some text.
2. I open LibreOffice and I create a new Writer document.
3. I right-click on the document and I click on 'Paste'.

Actual Results:
Nothing seems to happen on my current document, but then you notice that another document has been created in the background with the text I've just pasted.

Expected Results:
I expect the text to be pasted in my current document.

Reproducible: Always

I've just realized that the second Writer document is created not because of the pasting, but because I double-clicked on 'Create Writer Document'. If I simply click, only a document is created.

Is this a new behaviour? I think I've always double-clicked in this situation.

In any case, this doesn’t explain why the text is pasted not on the current document.

This reminds me of a previous issue that I reported here:

Comment 3 David García 2025-12-25 10:01:14 UTC
In LibreOffice 26.02 beta 1, a double-click on 'Create Writer Document' opens only one document as usual, so this issue doesn't happen.

Also on Linux. I think we can close this bug, double click is fixed.

Version: 26.8.0.0.alpha0+ (X86_64)

Comment 5 David García 2025-12-28 09:43:38 UTC
Even if the double click is fixed, this doesn’t explain why the text was pasted not on the current document.
Comment 6 raal 2025-12-28 16:17:48 UTC
Probably the focus was in the second document. But this situation won't happen anymore, when double click is fixed?
Comment 7 David García 2025-12-28 19:54:48 UTC
The focus was on the first document: at least, all I could see on my screen was the first document. The second document was behind, and yet, the text was pasted there.

Give the fact that, with the double click fixed, there's only one document, there's no chance for this issue to happen again.
