Description elliecomstock 2026-01-02 23:14:42 UTC
Description:
Say I have a long formula that extends past the end of the formula bar. (I add all my expenses together in one field.) To add more, I tried to click in the middle of the formula and then press the End key to bring the cursor to the end of the string. But instead, it only brought me to the end of the formula bar, then I had to scroll with the arrow key to get to the actual end. I'm not sure if this is intentional but it seems like a bug.

Somewhat related: I also tried clicking and dragging on the formula to try to select all the text (in this case, numbers). But the selection also stopped at the end of the formula bar, and wouldn't "push" the selection past it.

This is my first bug report. Please let me know if you need more information.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Put in a long formula, such as adding a bunch of numbers together. Helps to make the window narrower (like half screen).
2. Click in the formula bar to edit.
3. Press the End key or click and drag to select text all the way to the end.

Actual Results:
The cursor stops at the end of the formula bar instead of "pushing" what the formula bar displays to the end of the text/formula.

Expected Results:
The cursor would go to the end of the text/formula, allowing me to add on more values.

Reproducible: Always

Have you trying to use [Ctr+right]?

I tried it just now. It did what I expected, which was to jump the cursor to the next period/comma/space, and is a good workaround just like pressing the right arrow.

It is not a workaround, it is how Calc works.
