Description Telesto 2026-02-10 14:00:32 UTC
Description:
Semantics: Table Style, Table Design, Autoformat Style

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open Impress
2. Insert a Table -> Sidebar opens with heading 'Table Design'
3. Open Writer
4. CTRL+F12 (Insert Table Dialog). Here we have heading 'Styles'
5. Menu -> Table. Notice the entry AutoFormat Styles
6. Sidebar -> Styles Deck -> Hoover over the button 'Table Styles'

Actual Results:
A plethora of labels for the same feature

Expected Results:
Harmonize the labeling. I'm personally in favor of 'Table Design' "Table Layout"
I find Autoformat styles less attractive, although it's more precise. As table style being dynamically formatted. Or put differently, more kind of conditional formatting. Paragraph styles are more static.

I'm not perceiving the table layout as a style, in similar fashion as Paragraph or Character Style. It is in essence/technically the same thing. So it's more about perception/ semantics.

I admit, labeling it as say "Table Design" makes it more separated entity from 'Styles', but does feel more natural. At least in my perception.

Reproducible: Always

I would prefer to remove the Table Design deck from Impress' sidebar and make it available as real style.

If we need to fiddle around with terminology, my take would be to change Table Design to Table Style.

Not sure what you mean by 'Real Style'. Also what does remove 'Table Design deck' entail for bug 152481. I personally do like the preview and the discoverability of the Table Design deck

An entry in the Stylist with all filtering/organization means, etc.

DF on tables could go into this deck. And I'm not against a simple dropdown or even this large picker but it just occupies too much space on the properties tab. And looks like a different feature than TS on Writer/Calc.
