Created attachment 39465 [details] Huge toolbars Just did a clean install of beta 2 onto xp and the toolbars in any LibreOffice app are huge with no way to reduce the size. I can change the size of the icons, but toolbar size remains huge
Some more information would be helpful: 1. OS: XP 2. Resolution: ? 3. No. of monitors: 1 (?) 4. Was it ok with LO beta 1? 5. General system/machine information? 6. Any other information which could be useful? I am assuming 'clean install' implies no other versions of *office[.org] as well. Thank you!

Resolution: 1280x800 3. No. of monitors: 1 or 2 (problem is exhibited with both configurations) 4. Was it ok with LO beta 1? I had not installed beta 1 on this machine so cannot say 5. General system/machine information: Not using a standard Win XP theme as you can see from screenshot, but I don't experience any problems with anything else 6. Also using a 3rd party font renderer for windows, but problems are still apparent with I switch this off
I did have a version of OO installed previously, but did a full uninstall before installing LO (including removal of any files from user folder, and any registry entries)
Thank you! Reassigning it to kendy for further analysis
jonrandy: Actually - when you switch to another theme, is everything OK, or still the toolbars look stragely? Also - you said you had there OOo previously. What version? Did it show the problem, or not?

What version? Did it show the > problem, or not? If I switch to the windows default theme whilst Libre Office is running, the icon toolbars fix themselves, but the main menu remains large. If I then restart Libre Office, all toolbars are ok. Changing back to my normal theme and restarting Libre Office again results in large toolbars. OpenOffice 3.2 did not have this problem
jonrandy: Thank you, this helps a lot! Please - what is the name of the theme you are using, and is it possible to install it easily? So that we can try to reproduce...
(In reply to comment #7) > jonrandy: Thank you, this helps a lot! Please - what is the name of the theme > you are using, and is it possible to install it easily? So that we can try to > reproduce... The theme is called RoyaleVista2 - the files can be found in a zip at my dropbox - http://dl.dropbox.com/u/267312/RoyaleVista2.zip You'll also need to patch XP to run an unsigned theme - http://is.gd/gUXoG This theme does not show problems with any other apps
Any progress on this one? Just downloaded RC1 and the problem is still there
(In reply to comment #9) > Any progress on this one? Just downloaded RC1 and the problem is still there RC3 now and still the same - any movement on this? Need any more info from me?
Hi, the info is sufficient; hard to say now if it is fault of the theme, or of LibreOffice - will have a look.

Exactly same problem here with a custom xp theme: 1. OS: XP 2. Resolution: 1440x900 3. No. of monitors: 1 4. Was it ok with LO beta 1? don't know, i'm running tag libreoffice-3.3.0.4 5. General system/machine information? x86, intel graphics, xp professional fully up to date 6. Any other information which could be useful? running custom theme "Luna Element Black" from deviantart.com. running standard xp style brings toolbars size back to normal.

Thanks.
I confirm this bug in LibreOffice 3.3 Final, I'm using a custom XP theme from xpize.net and i have big menus and toolbars
Does LibreOffice on XP read some particular metric from the current style to determine the height that toolbars will have? If so, let me know the particular name of that metric (ideally as it appears within the msstyles file), and I will see if there is something odd or missing from the custom theme file I am using. If this fixes it then maybe we will have enough info to sort out the issue?
Retitled for clarity Workaround in #14: Disable themes in Start Menu_>Properties:Compatibility tab

Still nothing on this? Anything I can do to help? It's been about 16 months now
Can be reproduced under Windows 7, patched uxtheme.dll, with custom-theme. Workaround as mentioned in #14 fixes this problem temporary.
(In reply to comment #20) > Can be reproduced under Windows 7, patched uxtheme.dll, with custom-theme. > Workaround as mentioned in #14 fixes this problem temporary. But it brings up another problem: Prevents the "Save"-Dialog from showing up, so there is no way of saving files -- re-activating visual styles fixes this but of course brings back the oversized toolbars.
Workaround works fine in XP - save dialogs ok too, but it makes LibreOffice obviously look pig ugly Are we really no closer to fixing this? I am willing to help if I can - is more information needed?

Another workaround (works for me): Windows 7 compatibility mode (for soffice.exe) set to Windows XP SP3 with deactivated visual styles and ticked "Run as administrator"-box will now also show the open- and save-dialogs.

Hello Also reproduced (fr-user) with Seven pro SP1 and "ClearScreen Aero" theme (In reply to comment #23) > Another workaround (works for me): > Windows 7 compatibility mode (for soffice.exe) set to Windows XP SP3 with > deactivated visual styles and ticked "Run as administrator"-box will now > also show the open- and save-dialogs. This workaround works for the user. Thank you :) Regards Pierre-Yves

(In reply to comment #15) > I confirm this bug in LibreOffice 3.3 Final, change version from "unspecified" to "3.3.0 release"
I have the bug un Windows 7 SP1 x64 bits and the newest libreoffice. > El 22/10/2013, a las 03:12, bugzilla-daemon@freedesktop.org escribió: > > tommy27 changed bug 30891 > What Removed Added > CC barta@quipo.it > Version unspecified 3.3.0 release > Comment # 31 on bug 30891 from tommy27 > (In reply to comment #15) > > I confirm this bug in LibreOffice 3.3 Final, > > change version from "unspecified" to "3.3.0 release" > You are receiving this mail because: > You are on the CC list for the bug.
I add UI expert to CC list. Ivan, something for you?
Sorry, can't help with Windows-specific bugs. If someone would like to debug, I recommend to start here: http://opengrok.libreoffice.org/xref/core/vcl/source/window/toolbox.cxx#ImplCalcItem maybe GetNativeControlRegion returns something insane. But that would be too easy...
Is this bug still valid / reproducible with the latest LO release? Currently 4.2.3: http://www.libreoffice.org/download/libreoffice-fresh/ Please also try resetting your user profile and let us know if that helps: https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/UserProfile Should this be still reproducible for you with the latest LO release please set this bug back to UNCONFIRMED. Should this issue be solved set it to WORKSFORME. Setting to NEEDINFO until more detail is provided. Also can someone provide proper reproduce steps? While this bug does have 34 comments, not much useful information is provided on how to trigger the issue, and provide exact reproduce steps.
Everyone in the CC list (from the duplicates bugs): please recheck this UI glitch with LibreOffice 4.3.0.1 from http://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/pre-releases/win/x86/ and comment. If it is still reproducible please give a link or attach a zip with UI Theme. Maybe this will allow to diff such modified theme against the default one.
Marking NEW again. Just download a random theme from DeviantArt.
I'm assuming this is still an issue but updating priority - please do not change without first talking to QA. Trivial - will not prevent high quality work - just aesthetics Medium - default for trivial is lowest but it seems like there are enough dupes and users affected to leave at medium If someone could confirm that this is still an issue on 4.4 that would be great.
>If someone could confirm that this is still an issue on 4.4 that would be great. I confirm in version 4.4.4 and 5.0.0.3. Windows 7 SP1 (64x). Custom theme Elune from deviantart.
There is really no need for more confirmations, IMHO… The bug is acknowledged.

Not really an easyHack, or at the very least difficult. Missing good code pointers.
This is a custom theming issue and we no longer support XP since 5.4, so its not something we'll be fixing.
