Description Bram 2010-12-26 09:50:14 UTC
In LibreOffice, keyboard shortcuts could be used a lot better if they were clearly listed, with a small notification when hovering a button for example.

I'm a huge fan of keyboard shortcuts, especially for formatting features like superscript and subscript. Most people know ctrl+b and ctrl+i, but anything harder than that needs to be looked up. A tooltip on hover would really improve the user experience on this part, in my opinion.

Hi Bram, in my system, by default shortcuts key for superscript and subscript are bound to C-S-p and C-S-b. And they were shown in the tool bar tip when hovering if Tools->Options->General->Tips was checked on.

Also the superscript and subscript buttons are hidden, and you need to call them out by right click the text format tool bar, then in the Visible Buttons list, check them out to the tool bar.

Do the info above resolve the problem?

Thanks for your answer.

Yeah, changing the tips to show pretty much fixes what I wanted to address. However, wouldn't it be better to enable this by default? As far as I'm a aware I did not change that option, so the tips are hidden by default.

Thanks for confirm. I am closing it as not a bug then :)

The Libreoffice rc2 in my environment got the tips option checked on by default. I tried this by remove $HOME/.libreoffice then launch LibO.

Please feel free to document another enhancement if it is not checked in a specific platform.
