Description dpierret 2010-12-29 04:41:20 UTC
When we create a cell linked to an other one from an other file, the link is broken when saving the file in Excel 2003 format.
Ex.:
- using ODS file format : cell contains :
   ='file:///C:/temp/LibreOffice/calc1.ods'#$Feuille1.A1
  When saved in ODS format, the cell is ok

- when the file is saved in Excel format and we open again the file, the cell contains :
   ='file:///C:/temp/LibreOffice/file1.xls'#$''.A1
   ==> the sheet name is lost in the link and is replaced by 2 single quotes

Attached are 2 sets :
- one set in ODS format : calc1.ods & calc2.ods
- same set but saved in Excel 2003 format : file1.xls & file2.xls
  => open file2.xls and check the content of the cell B1 => B30.

The issue is reproductible in 3.3.0RC1 and RC2.

I don't remember having the issue with the 3.3.0 Beta levels.
Comment 1 dpierret 2010-12-29 05:06:11 UTC
1. Changed from 2003 to XP the file format in the title.

2. Tests done with an older level :
  LibreOffice 3.3.0 - OOO330m12 (Build:2) - libreoffice-build 3.2.99.3
  => Same issue.
Comment 2 Rainer Bielefeld Retired 2010-12-31 01:34:28 UTC
[Reproducible] with "LibreOffice 3.3.0 RC2 - WIN XP German UI [OOO330m18 (build 3.3.0.2)]", pls. see my attached test kit.

Blocker?

@dpierret:
What OS did you test?

Comment 6 Vince35 2011-02-23 08:20:49 UTC
Bug seems to be repaired on 3.3.1 Final !!!

Can you confirm ?
Comment 7 Kohei Yoshida 2011-02-23 08:28:59 UTC
No I didn't fix this.
Comment 8 Rainer Bielefeld Retired 2011-02-23 09:38:40 UTC
And I see it still reproducible with "LibreOffice 3.3.1  – WIN7  Home Premium  (64bit) German UI [OOO330m19 (build 8 / tag 3.3.1.2)]"
Comment 9 dpierret 2011-02-27 02:43:58 UTC
The issue is reproductible with version 3.3.1.
Comment 10 Vince35 2011-03-12 09:50:22 UTC
For me, this bug should be considered "major" or "critical" because with .xls files, you can lose datas.
For my exemple, i use .xls files from my work, modify these files at home and send back to my work. So, i can't use Libreoffice as this bug is not corrected !
Comment 11 Rainer Bielefeld Retired 2011-03-15 09:31:12 UTC
*** Bug 35330 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. ***
Comment 12 dpierret 2011-06-06 12:05:55 UTC
bug seems to be fixed with latest released version LibreOffice 3.4.0 [OOO340m1 (Build:12)]
Comment 13 Kohei Yoshida 2011-06-06 12:15:08 UTC
Thanks. With that info, I'll close this bug as fixed.
Comment 14 dpierret 2013-03-09 19:14:25 UTC
Hello, issue is back in Version 4.0.0 and 4.01
Comment 15 Rainer Bielefeld Retired 2013-03-10 08:07:49 UTC
NOT reproducible with server installation of "LibO 4.0.1.2 release - German UI / German Locale [Build ID: 84102822e3d61eb989ddd325abf1ac077904985)]" {tinderbox: @6, pull time 2013-02-28 08:53(?)} on German WIN7 Home Premium (64bit) with newly created user profile ….\LODev\4012\

1. Download unzip test kit
2. open "linksarehere.ods" (will show error message) and "Source.ods"
3. click cell A2 in "linksarehere.ods"
4. Type "="
5. Menu 'Window -> Source.ods'
   > switch to source.ods
6. click cell A2 in Tabelle2 of "Source.ods" -> <Enter>'
   > Link "='file:///..../Source.ods'#$Tabelle2.A2" in "linksarehere.ods"
7. Menu 'Edit -> Links', Break old nonsense link with "F_U_E_R_N_E_U_E_N" in it
8. Save Document as "linksarehere4012.ods"
9. Save Document as "linksarehere4012.xls"
10. close all documents
11. reopen "linksarehere4012.ods" and "linksarehere4012.xls"
    In bot documents you see the correct contents (may be after you confirmed
    "Update"

Also works fine with 4.0.0.3

I did the same tests with old version 3.3.3.
There in step 11 in .xls I found
"='file:///C:/Users/Public/Documents/LibO/32717_links - Kopie/testkit2/Source.ods'#$''.A2"
instead
"='file:///C:/Users/Public/Documents/LibO/32717_links - Kopie/testkit2/Source.ods'#$Tabelle2.A2"

So I am still able to reproduce the problem with 3.3.3 and an additional test still showed me that problem WORKSFORME with 3.4.5.

So I can not see any indication that the old bug reappeared, WFM again!

May be that you really saw a problem at least similar to the old one, but I am pretty sure that that is something different to the originally reported problem here.

Issue reproductable in 4.0.1.2 - scenario

scenario :
1. create new spreadsheet 1.ods
2. add 3 entries and save it as 1.xlsx.
3. create new spreadsheet 2.ods and save it as 2.xlsx
4. open the 2.xlsx file
5. create cells A1, A2, A3 with references to cells A1, A2, A3 of 1.xlsx
6. save  2.xlsx file
7. reopen 2.xlsx file - reference is corrupted and Err:509 error is displayed in cell having reference.
See Error.JPG for error.
Comment 17 Rainer Bielefeld Retired 2013-03-10 14:24:22 UTC
Different file type, different version, different sample documents, different error message ...

Closed again.

I will submit a new bug for the new problem and add dpierret to CC

The effect in Comment 16 is already known as "Bug 45286 - FILESAVE as .xlsx destroys link to linked contents"
